    My first mead- bottling question

Yeah, Having moved into a house that has a big basement that we're not going to finish, I've got lots of room for long term brewing storage. Besides just being interested in expanding my brewing abilities to new things, I've got the space to just let things sit for a long time. Patience is...

    My first mead- bottling question

ok. I'll kind of just let it go for a bit, if after a month it's starting to get a good pile of yeast on the bottom, I'll rack it, then let it go for a few months. Thanks for the advice. After brewing beer, starting to brew mead is entirely way too simple, and I think I'm kind of just looking...

    My first mead- bottling question

OK. great. that was my general thought on it. He recommended I rack it once a month. I plan to do that for at least the first few months. then it probably won't need it as often. I'm figuring it'll take about 6 months, cold crash, then re-rack for a bit longer, then bottle and let set for...

    My first mead- bottling question

Hi all, Just put the airlock on my first batch of mead. The person who was helping me doesn't usually bottle it, so he couldn't give me any advice on when. So I guess that's my question. when is it safe to bottle it? was thinking wait until the fermentation has "finished" and then cold crash...

That's kind of where my mind was at with this whole process.

How many ball valves are really needed?

thanks for the replies. I will just go ahead and order the 10 and have the valves. Do you guys happen to know if this is an actual sale, or pretty standard pricing from bargain fittings? http://www.bargainfittings.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=36_57&product_id=128

How many ball valves are really needed?

I'm starting to get pieces together to build a 3 vessel, 2 pump, eHerms system. I saw that bargain fittings has a sale (at least I think it's a sale) on 3 pieces ss valves, so I'm thinking about buying up what I need (first official purchase). In my mind, you need a valve whenever liquid is...

    FastFerment conical

I currently use a thief for gravity samples, but I want to put a small tap on the thermowell just for the convenience of being able to keep the fermentor closed. I've dry hopped once with 2 oz of pellets, and did not have any clogging. That said you could use a mesh hop bag to keep them contained

    FastFerment Conical Fermenter Problem

I second the teflon tape. that's what I do, and it seals fine every time.

    Blackberry Blonde Technique

I have a blackberry honey wheat in secondary right now. I racked onto blackberry puree, not whole fruit, but I will say that I agree with the person you talked to about when to rack. I did mine after a week, and I wish I would have waited until the fermentation slowed down more. I think it'll be...

    Hello from Wisconsin

Hello all. Located in the Milwaukee area. Been creeping the forum for a little while now and have been brewing for about 7 years, though I just decided to start really giving it a go. For instance I just started all grain and kegging, and after this weekend will have brewed more this year than...
