I started brewing and winemaking with kits and some country wines in the 70s - all fairly disastrous. We gave up by 1980. In 2009 I stopped in a local homebrew shop and asked if things had improved, on the promise that they had I bought a beer kit... wow! What a difference! I'm now making up for lost time laying down a 30 bottle wine kit each month to build a stock for a couple of years time and brewing beer (English style) and cider for parties.
