Coopers Canadian Blonde - to spray malt or not?

For my latest brew (Muntons Export Stout) I used 1KG extra light spraymalt on it's own. You could use 1KG spraymalt and 500g dextrose. I'm no expert though :mug:

Stout Brew, temps all over the place

Looks like a handy program that, thanks a lot :mug:

Stout Brew, temps all over the place

Hmmm I didn't want it high like 7.7% but 3.6%/3.8% is a bit lower than I had hoped. I take it 1KG of spraymalt is not the equivalent of 1KG brewing sugar so?

Stout Brew, temps all over the place

I tasted it right before I bottled it, was pleased with the taste actually which I'm happy about. By totally integrated do you mean I didn't stir it enough when I added it? I was trying to brew it as close to the recommended 20 Celsius as I could which is why I used the heater belt at...

Stout Brew, temps all over the place

Anyone? :o I've just tried using an online abv calculator and I'm getting this http://i.imgur.com/RpdwW.png Looks a bit higher than i expected, is it correct?

Stout Brew, temps all over the place

Well the time has come for the bottling to begin and I've just taken a reading on the hydrometer but suck at it as usual. Could somebody give me an idea of what the OG and FG readings are from looking at these pictures? I know the quality of the pics ain't great. OG...

Stout Brew, temps all over the place

Well I started my first stout brew(2 brew ever) and I have messed up the temperature on numerous occasions. I started it on the 6th of this month(Sept) and came down with glandular fever which meant I couldn't look after it properly for 2 weeks as I was bed ridden most of the time. So the temps...

    Alcohol Content

Ya there is no point taking a reading now as the yeast has been working for a few days. I've been told you can still get a fairly good estimate of the abv % by using the FG and ingredients that were used. Not sure how it's done though.

    Idea's for 2nd brew

Looks like the Pilsner is out of the question as I will struggle to keep the temperatures at the recommended degree range. I'm now thinking about trying 'Muntons Connoisseurs Export Stout' as I'm a fan of stout as well. Has anyone tried this? I'm going to get the 1kg Muntons spraymalt with the...

    Idea's for 2nd brew

If there were ways for me to keep the temp of the fermentor down I wouldn't really mind the wait. Good things come to those who wait :p I'm also a fan of stout which would be my choice should the pilsner brew turn out not to be worth while. Is there anything I could get that would help keep...

    Idea's for 2nd brew

Thanks for the tip :mug: The Pilsner kit? That's handy, will be interesting to see how they compare :) Tuborg is usually my beer of choice so I'm used to drinking a light pilsner. I'm hoping it will be a tad better than just drinkable :D

    Idea's for 2nd brew

Room temperature for my last brew was usually 20 Celsius which is 68 fahrenheit. Might be tricky to keep the temps down.

    Idea's for 2nd brew

I bottled my first ever brew a few days ago (which is the coopers lager kit) and while I wait for bottles to be fully carbonated I'm gonna plan my next brew. Link to my first brew thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/first-brew-attempt-253918/ I'm thinking of going with 'Muntons...
