I'll answer this, though I'm sure Nurmey will have some further details. Living in a small craftsman bungelow, space is at a premium, and this unit will be playing several roles. We plan on trying some lagering. It will also give us someplace to actually have a keg or two available for serving...

We just brewed up a Holiday Stout last weekend. Yeah I know a little late, but hey St. Patrick's Day is a holiday too, in fact in my book it is THE Holiday, so barring some really unfortunate mishap that should be ready by then. Beyond that I've plenty of Scottish Ale and Strong Amber on hand...

I guess it all depends on how long you want to keep the beer cold for. I've used a couple of corny kegs in a cooler before and then filled around the kegs with ice. This kept the beer pretty cold for an evening, but by the next morning, all the ice had melted and the beer was getting pretty...
