Is it still possible to get hops locally?

My LHBS carries rhizomes till mid april. I bought three rhizomes for $3 a piece at the begining of March. So, you might try or atleast call your LHBS.

New to growing hops. Some tips?

I bought my Cascade rhizome at my LHBS it was a spur of the moment thing while I was buying supplies. I'm not a green thumb I planted them in early march and they are about six inches tall there is about 8-10 sprouts. I have read around and I know I will need to build a support system and...

    2nd brew. Secondary question?

I racked my beer to the secondary 2 days ago. I made sure my primary fermentation was complete. So, there should not be any activity in there but the the airlock looks like there is some type of activity I have not sat there long enough to see any bubbling but the middle piece is floating...

    California (un)common - slow fermentation

I'm not a pro or anything I've only have to batches under my belt but if I read correctly It sounds like a pretty simple problem. I'm I correct you racked only after a week? What was your target FG? It sounds like you did not give the yeast enough time to do their job. I thinked you racked to...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I did that too. But did not see any airlock activity until about 48 hours. I thought it was going t be vigrous. It's now bubbling but only about every 20 seconds. I'm not worried though. This was easy (only my seconed batch) and very easy on the wallet thanks ED.

Anyone have an extra 5/8 SS fender washer?

I kinda thought they would work but to be on the safe side I ordered a couple fender washers from Fastenal.com. They sold them buy the piece SS are $1.40 and the zinc ones are $.20 pc. You can also buy all the parts for the MLT there too. My shipping cost was more than the washers but with...

Anyone have an extra 5/8 SS fender washer?

I'm interested in building a MLT but I too can not find the 5/8" fender. However my lowes has SS 5/8" flat washers. Does anyone know if these will work because me building this thing hinges on whether I can find these babies.

using a grain bag for partial mash -vid

I also have a 20qt pot and my next biggest one is an 8qt but my water filtration system also has a heater and I can get about a gallon out of that @ about 160F. I was going to mash at a ratio of 1.5 h20 for every Lbs of grain then sparge with about 8-10qt. Really I would just like to know what...

    Bass Pale Ale

Bass is 1 of my favs. I keep it in my rotation. I'm not a big fan of APA. BASS is not as bitter and more on the malty side.

    Final Gravity?

so, my gravity before racking should be close to the FG in my case 1.013.

    Final Gravity?

Bit confused about Final Gravity. Should your final gravity reading be after it has fermented in your primary or after the secondary or before bottling. I have a bass clone that has been in the primary for a week with a starting gravity of 1.050 and the instructions from my LHBS states that I...

    addin hops

I'm new to home brewing and for my next batch would like to make a cali common. the question I have is it customary to add the bulk of your hops at the beginning of the boil. From what I noticed for cali commons most of the recipes use an 1oz. or more for bittering. I was thinking of adding...
