    Amalayse and adjunct

I've been brewing for a while now and I thought I'd do something a little wacky/experimental for once. My question is, could I, theoretically, use amylase in a 100% adjunct (little or no enzymes) and get enough sugar out of it to make beer? I was thinking of using oats. I'm not to worried...

    bottling cap

I was thinking of getting into force carbonating with a carbonation cap. I already have a tank, I just need the lines, regulator and cap itself. Is there any cheap way to do this? I can't really spend as much on the regulator as I see on all the websites. My budget is very tight right now.

    too much priming sugar?

Yeah, a scale is a good cal but I don't know if I can afford one atm. I plugged my info into the calculator (I had seven bottles plus a little extra not six-I forgot that) and got 4.8 volumes, which is twice the 2.4 for most styles. I'll burp it, as suggested. Thank you guys for the advice

    too much priming sugar?

That is 1.5 tsp per bottle. Just did the math

    too much priming sugar?

Made a MO/fuggle smash. I threw 3/16 of a cup in the last one and just did it again for this one. The problem is that the dry hops hid the fact that I had 6 bottles worth this time instead of 8. I'm not worried about bottle bombs as much as I am about having sweet beer. Am I screwed?

Everything was sanitized well. Thank you for the help. I'll buy more yeast ASAP

    smelly yeast

I've refrigerate it. And yeah, it is that color. It is a month past date and I let the guy talk me into buying it half off. I'll be pissed if I just wasted five hours. I had gone in for S04.

    smelly yeast

Just opened a white labs 005 British ale yeast. It smells somewhere between vomit and rancid meat. Is this normal?

    Yeast

Could you explain why and what my target percent should be? I am fully aware of my ignorance and I'm learning as I mess stuff up.

    Yeast

They are generally low gravity. A pound of marris otter, half pound of 40 crystal and a few tablespoons of brown sugar because I thought it was still too thin. I did an iodine test and i got a really good conversion, or at least at par with 75 percent efficiency. I'll cave an get a hydrometer...

    Yeast

Sorry about spelling errors. I'm on my kindle and autocorrect is killing me.

    Yeast

Well as far as gravity goes, my old man used to brew beer and had a hydrometer. It sat in the attic for at least ten years until butterfingers here pulled it out and smashed it within ten minutes. So I'm flying in the dark until I can afford another one (I'm in college and broke). I heard other...

    Yeast

Hey everybody, Does anyone recommend a yeast strain for beginners? I have used S04, but it keeps stalling on me. I prefer, but not exclusively, English style beers so I thought S04 would be perfect but it seems I don't have the magic touch yet. For now something with high attenuation and...

    Coming up with a recipe

Thanks everybody. I went to the homebrew store and they pretty much told me to go with something very similar to m00ps, except I'm going with a little oatmeal instead of wheat. We'll see how it turns out!
