    First all grain batch

You need to learn how your mash tun reacts to the water addition. In my tun I lose about 10 degrees when I add my strike water and about another 10 degrees when I add my grain. So If I want to mash at say 150, I would add 170 degree water and close the lid for about 5-10 minutes to heat up the...

    Help formulating Coffee IPA

Its a great beer! Very interesting flavors as the coffee adds a complexity that works well with the hoppyness of the IPA backbone. I sent you a PM Peter. Nicely done!

Things one guy should NEVER say to another guy

A couple of buddies and I do a lot of offshore fishing and one of them just bought a new reel that I suggested he buy. We have a group text message that three of us all chat and reply on about fishing and other stuff. The day after he purchased the reel we got a text that read: "I cant quit...

    PID Question

That's almost exactly what I did on my 5500 element HLT with a herms system except I used the 2362. I don't like running thing at their max capacity so I went with the 40amp setup relying on my breaker to blow if overloaded and I don't have to worry about burning out any components. Make sure...

    PID Question

I could be wrong but i think you should base it on amps? If your running a 110v the 2352 should do it as its rated to 25amps (I think). If your running 220v the 2362 is the way to go as its 40amps. I bet the 2362 could run 110v fine, but I doubt the 2352 could run 220v. Check what kind of line...

    help fix my beer!

I don't know what you mashed at but it looks like it didn't attenuate enough and could be to sweet. You have lots of hops but a 1.020 could be throwing off that flavor with an overly sweet taste. Did you use a yeast starter? What temp did you ferment at and for how long?

I agree, we no nothing! Spin around twice and jump for 2 seconds, then look at the beer and post the recipe so we can see whats going on.

    Foamy Randall Pour

I made a randall out of a water filter and had the same issue. I could be wrong but maybe the hops are breaking up the beer and causing the bubbles. Something like a nucleation effect taking place from the carbonation in the beer????? I'm not sure but the beer tasted great

    Help formulating Coffee IPA

Centennial is a great hop and will really work well with the citra and cascade combo. I agree, that beer is going to change a bit when you add that coffee. It might just be what your looking for though based on your early tastes. Keep us posted I am anxious on how your going to do that coffee...

    Help formulating Coffee IPA

I use secondary all the time to clear my beers as I dont have the abililty to cold crash either. If you dry hop the way your talking about you might lose some of that dry-hopped goodness due to the aging. One thing that has been popular lately is to do double dry hops where you dry hop for the...

    Infection from fruit?

Your should be ok. Just keep doing your normal thing and see how it is after you bottle or condition it. Quick question, how did you pasteurize the fruit?
