    Cider Carbonation

Oy vey! You intend to start a business, yet the questions you ask indicate that you lack even the most basic knowledge about the industry/world you intend to enter. Without either 1) an experienced brewer to run that aspect of the business for you, and/or 2) a major acquisition of knowledge and...

Suggest a recipe for my fourth-ever batch?

The dunkelweizen suggestions sound interesting; I wasn't familiar with the style until now. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the banana notes; while I love fresh bananas, I *hate* things that "taste like bananas." I seem to recall hearing that the banana notes were the result of funky...

Suggest a recipe for my fourth-ever batch?

Well, I finally drained the dregs of my first three batches, and the trio of squeaky-clean corny kegs in the corner are calling my name; I guess it's time to make my fourth-ever batch of beer! There's only one problem; I can't seem to decide what to make. Any recipe suggestions? I'd like to find...

What yeasts like higher (ie, summer) temperatures?

Thanks for the tips, everybody. Looks like saison and wit it is (I'll just pray for no bananas). Although...and I hate to admit this...I've never had a saison before. However, in the interest of fixing this problem, I've printed out the saison list on Beer Advocate and will be taking it to...

What yeasts like higher (ie, summer) temperatures?

If I'm honest with myself, I must admit that I would never keep up with such a system. I need a beer that I can stick in the closet and forget about 'till it's time to rack. It's partially laziness, partially time constraints. Ok, it's mostly laziness.

What yeasts like higher (ie, summer) temperatures?

I'd like to brew up a couple more batches, but unfortunately I live in an un-air-conditioned house, and I don't possess the finances to modify an old refrigerator as I have seen some others do. If I'm going to brew anything this summer, it's going to have to like higher temps (in the 75° range)...

corny keg as single stage fermenter

Sorry, I know this is a bit off-topic, but... I stumbled across a 2006 invoice from my LHBS wherein they sold me 5-gallon carboys for ~$15. Now they're $30+. What's up with that?

    Is The Stig really __________?

Thanks for refraining from posting spoilers! I haven't had the chance to watch the Tivo'd episode yet, but I've really been looking forward to it! I can't believe they're going to reveal his identity! .... Dude. :(

    Anyone like the Pixies?

Even though "Surfer Rosa" came out a good five or so years before I got into high school, it's one of my "high school albums." <3 Pixies

What are my options for lightweight, temporary bottling?

I stumbled across that thread a couple days ago, as it were. Very interesting. I think if I didn't already own a Beergun, and if I didn't have such a hard...er, an affection for gadgetry, I'd give that a shot. But it only took one time helping a buddy divvy up 15 gallons into 12-ounce bottles...

    Carboys in the Seattle area.

I actually hit CL first. :) But the folks here at HBT have been so nice and helpful to me in the short time I've been hanging around, I'd sooner pass a good (and mutually beneficial) deal on to a community member than a random stranger, all things being equal. Thanks for the suggestion though...

    Carboys in the Seattle area.

I know this is a longshot, but I have some like-new* glass carboys to sell in the Seattle area. I've run into a bit of a rough patch, financially speaking, and at first I was bummed about having to sell off some of my gear, but last night my girlfriend pointed out a spectacular silver lining to...

What are my options for lightweight, temporary bottling?

Good point. Duly noted. PS: What's up, 619?! PB in the house! *ahem* :o Do you use a particular apparatus to fill them? Or do you just chill the brew down to 33°-ish, overcarbonate, and dispense into bottles with a cobra tap? Or...? Sorry; perhaps I'm putting too fine a point on the matter...

What are my options for lightweight, temporary bottling?

I really should have searched more thoroughly before asking this question. I'll admit I was :tank: at the time of posting, but still. Sorry. That said, am I to understand that one can *naturally* carbonate inside reused PET soda bottles? Like, 21 days at 70°+? Really?! I assumed that, if I did...

What are my options for lightweight, temporary bottling?

I want to take some homebrew with me on a two-night hike into alpine wilderness, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do so. We are all ultralight hikers, meaning that, including the clothes on our backs and the water in our bottles, each person generally carries less than 15 pounds...
