Primary + Patience? Will it Work for Dry and Simple Cider?

So, probably give it another month in bottles to settle down and get carb'ed normally? Sounds good to me... I'll be stoked to be having some in the new year ;)

Primary + Patience? Will it Work for Dry and Simple Cider?

My only issue that I've only got a single carboy, but I've got a bunch of buckets... so, if the buckets work well enough, I'll happily use those instead of the glass... I was only going to do glass if it was essential to the process somehow... I'm just figuring if I can use the gear I have and...

Primary + Patience? Will it Work for Dry and Simple Cider?

Cool. I'm good at lazy. It's part of why I'm shifting towards the simpler cider process, it's the most wonderfully lazy option of all :) I happen to already have the corn sugar, so I'll just keep going with that. Ratios per gallon are similar for carb'ing in cider to beer, I guess?

Primary + Patience? Will it Work for Dry and Simple Cider?

I've done bottle carb'ing for beer, but I ended up having folks over, and we just drank the long sitting carboy flat and cold, it was great, but I'd love to do bottling and bottle carb it this time... any recommendations/precautions on that? Dextrose at what quantity to get a decent fizz...

Primary + Patience? Will it Work for Dry and Simple Cider?

I had used the puff pack of Sweet Mead Yeast, which left just a tiny bit of residual sugar, and tasted fantastic, but it's a question of how much headache I want to get into getting my hands on the stuff, shipping etc...

Primary + Patience? Will it Work for Dry and Simple Cider?

I'm wondering how the cider from the mill changes character as the season goes on, I am pretty sure they've got cider throughout the winter, but it must come from stored apples, which are slightly different varieties. I'm finding that the ciders that I like the most, and that are oddly the most...

Primary + Patience? Will it Work for Dry and Simple Cider?

I've got good, additive free cider from a few nearby mills, and all I want is super dry, simple cider, no added sugar, no spices or any other stuff... I've done a batch just in a glass carboy with sweet mead yeast and left it for six months to get clear. Other than clarity, if I just want...

    Does Undiluted Starsan "Go Bad"?

It's liquid malt extract and some steeping grains. It's the northern brewer branded stuff in the big plastic jugs... it's been in the dark, in a dry basement not terribly warm in summer, and reasonably cool through fall/winter/spring. It's somewhere between a year and two years old... I called...

    Does Undiluted Starsan "Go Bad"?

Northern Brewer is tellin' me that the kits altogether are probably kind of janky and should just be replaced... AT LEAST THE STARSAN STILL WORKS, RIGHT?? Thanks everybody. Advice is much appreciated.

    Does Undiluted Starsan "Go Bad"?

For the yeast I was figuring that I'd pitch it, and if nothing happened within a day or so, I'd go get extra from the local HBS and chuck that in as well... for the hops, they're in pellet form, locked in the vac-packs with nitrogen in them, so I figured they'd probably be fine, they've stored...

    Does Undiluted Starsan "Go Bad"?

Thanks all. I guess the tops are okay, but do you mean the actual plastic on the lid, or the seal has gone crappy? I'm figuring on getting a brew day in in the next couple of weeks, returning to drinking after this hiatus is best done (I think) not just with homebrew (which I still have some...

    Does Undiluted Starsan "Go Bad"?

I've taken a year off of drinking at all (sort of an experiment), and over a year without brewing a drop. I've still got my sta-bil style squeezey dispenser bottle of starsan, unmixed/undiluted. Does the stuff go bad at any point, or am I still in good shape to trust that it's going to keep...

    Does Everyone Keggerate?

I'm going to be buying a 20# CO2 tank to use with my seltzer carbonator, and am thinking about switching over to Kegging my beer instead of bottle carb'ing as that's a huge huge pain in the ass... if I'm already buying the gas, I might as well use it for both. Not sure, though, whether I...

    Too Much Foam?

It popped back to life when I put in room in the upper 60s, it was in primary for definitely over a month, closer to 5 or 6 weeks, I think. I don't really recall how far above the required finishing point it was, really. It was last October, so my memory is fuzzy :tank: So, I'll just keep...

    Too Much Foam?

I'll give it a shot. I've had numerous batches where this was not a problem at all... the only changes I can think of were adding whirfloc as an experiment to see if it helped clear, and increasing the volume to a full boil. Seems like the longer they sit the worse it has become. The only...
