    Raw Ale / No Boil

BOOM!! That just happened!! Very interesting post. BUT...on the other side, I love it when people attempt to break tradition, or whatever we call the "typical brewing process". "Experts" can tell you what has been done, and usually they will also tell you that certain things that cannot be...

    Tarragon RyePA

Sorry to see no responses here. Going through my spice cabinet I took a whiff of the Tarragon and thought that'd be a great spice to use in a brew. Ginger is also on my short list.

Let's put together a New Glarus Yokel all-grain recipe, shall we?

At this time, if I could perfect this lager beer, I would be a very, very happy camper. Any input would be fantastic!! So far I have read that they use 3 types of barley. German, British and US (Wisconsin) Not really sure what that means. 2-row, Pils, and Marris??? Not sure of the...

Sanitary Welder Needed Near Elgin, IL

I have access to a phenominal sanitary welder but he is booked for quite some time. I am really chomping at the bit to have my 4 bulkheads sanitary welded to my new 20 gallon pot. I am looking for a quality referral for a sanitary welder near the Elgin/Gilberts/Algonquin/Crystal Lake, Illinois...

    Position of whirlpool arm.

I think I am going to anchor it near the top, that way I can use any size tubing to adjust it to any height. I may cut arms to 3 different lengths to see if there is any difference. High, middle and low. I have about 40' of stainless steel tubing to spare so I may as well experiment. I will...

    Position of whirlpool arm.

Switching from a 15 gallon boil kettle to a 20. Also adding some bells and whistles. So....... Does the height of the whirlpool arm matter? If so, state your case. Explain where you have placed yours and why. Let the debate begin. (Pictures would be great):rockin:

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

I have six lines and don't like to waste co2, so if for no other reason it at least saves on co2. Having a dedicated system just for cleaning lines is a lot easier and this is a cost-effective way to have that.

    Hydrometer sample fermented?

My hydro sample sat out for a week by accident. Started bubbling like crazy, so obviously fermentation had taken place. Decided to add it to my leftover wort, the end running from the mash off my following batch; about a quart. (IOW, Gave it some more sugar to eat) Anyway, I understand it...

    Weldless brew stand.

I have probably made 35+ ten gallon batches during almost 2 years time, and it is as sturdy now as the day I built it. I raised my pots with angled steel to get the pots off the iron. I was afraid that over time the flame directly touching the iron would weaken it, so I added the steel. Not...

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

Interesting you should say that, cuz I was told that the sprayers are actually made of third arms and ground up puppies. So if you can still justify (and feel safe) using it, I say go for it. ;-)

Need gas line advice for my brew stand.

I have my natural gas setup as: 3/4" black with 2 shut off valves (one high at ceiling height and one at about 3 feet from the ground), to 1/2" black, to ball valve, to excess flow valve, to flex to drilled out nipple, to burner. From what I was told, the excess flow is a must for safety.
