    HomeBrewTalk Tips and Tricks

It drives me absolutely bonkers when people mention the number of pages in a thread, or reference a post on page X in a thread. LOL I don't understand why anyone would want to only have 10 posts per page. I have mine set to 160, and it's glorious!

'Tropical Wit' recipe critique / advice please!

Quick update, just poured the first glass form the keg, and it's pretty darn good. Maybe a tiny bit thin, but great flavour, and very thirst quenching. It reminds me of a shocktop with an orange slice floating in it, without having to put an orange in it. I'll definitely do this one again, but...

'Tropical Wit' recipe critique / advice please!

Thanks for the input guys. I will adjust it to mash a touch higher at 152 based on your feedback. The coriander is whole right now, and I'll crush it with a mortar and pestle roughly. Sadly I don't have any Amarillo and they don't sell it near me, so I'd have to order it mail order, and I'm...

'Tropical Wit' recipe critique / advice please!

I am going to make the following "Tropical Wit" on Saturday. I'm going for something you would drink in the shade under a palm tree, on a white sand beach, gentle island breeze in your hair, watching the bikini bodies and relaxing with some reggae beats on a hot Caribbean afternoon. 5.5 gal...

using oak cubes - weight them down?

I just brewed an american barleywine today, and am planning on aging it on light french toasted oak cubes, and vanilla beans. When I do rack to secondary, how do you go about adding the oak? Is it just put it in the secondary and let them float around on the beer until they sink on their own...

    Stc-1000+

Got mine flashed yesterday, yay! Everything was super easy to do, although I haven't had much practice soldering, but it all worked out in the end. Thank you sincerely for your efforts, alphaomega. It's people like you ho make this forum as amazing as it is. :mug: Now, I just need to find...

    Stc-1000+

I'm having a difficult time understanding this. Is it showing that the actual temperature (top graph) is way off of what it should be (bottom graph), especially for the first couple days of fermentation? Or am I completely lost?

    Stc-1000+

Awesome news, that's the same seller I bought one from, also on a slow boat from China. This gives me hope that it's a 1.0 as well!

    Stc-1000+

Good news! I'm a complete ******* and just bought an arduino uno r3 and an stc 1000 on ebay to try this, so if it works for me, it's bulletproof! Do I need anything else? I skimmed the instructions quickly here at work and will read fully later this evening. I saw something about an arduino...

    Show Us Your Label

Gimp is a good program, and way powerful. I also use Inkscape, which is a vector drawing program, also open source. +1 to being a cheap-ass! :rockin:

New and improved label for my SMaSH classic american pilsner, because I was doing some Gimp tutorials and neded something to practice on. I wanted a very subtle industrial revolution theme, hence the train. Plus, I drink a lot of Steamwhistle, so Pilsner's and trains kind of fit together in my...
