New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I don't blame you. They look really nice. Save up a little bit more though, as the amount of tri clamp fittings that you need/want after purchasing the conical came as a bit of a surprise to me!

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

The orange tap part comes out reasonably easily from the white/translucent part by simply pushing up from the base (where the liquid comes out), whilst twisting the handle backwards and forwards at the same time. Getting the white/translucent part away from the orange screw on part (which isn't...

Advice needed after bad brew day

Leave it. It'll probably be even more drinkable than what you intended!

So how long have you been brewing?

Brewed my first beer at 14 years old - so 50 years ago! I brewed a stout extract kit, and when it had fermented out I took one smell of it and threw it down the toilet. With hindsight it smelled just like a stout, and probably would have been fine. I'm not quite sure why I set about brewing...

    Grain mill motor HP, Recommendations,

I think All American Ale Works have the best solution for the monster mills, and possibly other models of grain mill. I bought a MM 3Pro PD over a year ago, and have been looking since then for a suitable method of driving it, other than from a hand drill. I have the most difficult to...

    Stabilizing Top Heavy Conical

I thought about doing exactly the same. I have a couple of 100l fermenters, which have blanked off, screw in tc fittings as height adjustable feet. They seemed quite stable until I attached three swivelling wheels to the feet. Now, when you push the fermenter, they swivel inwards, and upset the...

Kegged beer turned sour after a couple months

I'm not suggesting that it has anything to do with beer going sour in the keg (although it may be possible), but how often do people clean their taps? I stripped my flow control tap down, after a few kegs of beer through it, and it looked gross - like a brown algae had taken hold. It only...

ss brew tech 20 gallon mash tun

Does anyone use stainless steel thermos flasks? Would anyone a quarter fill it with hot coffee without preheating it and still expect to get hot coffee out of it after an hour or so? If you pre-heat it sufficiently, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by it's performance. Yes, it is a...

ss brew tech 20 gallon mash tun

Try preheating with hot water for about half an hour before you mash in. Drain this water and mash in a few degrees hotter than your mash temperature. You need to get the whole of the mash tun up to temperature for some time before you mash in.

    Filling Speidel 60L Fermentor

Aren't you overthinking this? Is the cooled wort previously aerated or oxygenated before entering the fermenter? How are you adding the yeast? I use the same fermenters (I'm assuming we are talking about the same 60l Speidel plastic fermenters), and fill through the main large opening...
