HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I've been running a brewpi for a few years and love it. For some reason it crashed and I am in the process of rebuilding it. All seems to be going OK until I get to the point of reprogramming my arduino. When I head to http://dl.brewpi.com/brewpi-avr/stable/ - I get a bad link message from...

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

I looked at these ovens before I started and the issue that kept me from going this way was the lack of insulation. The design simply has a refractory material (the fire brick) on the inside covered with a layer of regular brick. It would work, but if you are going through the effort to put...

If that is what he means then that is going to be some serious rust since the chimney is a terracotta flue liner. I've never seen terracotta rust.

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

Learned a lot from the Forno Bravo forum. Build is here: https://community.fornobravo.com/forum/pizza-oven-design-and-installation/other-oven-types/399040-cast-oven-build-in-shelbyville-ky

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

Wouldn't waste my time on a build like that. The dome is cast out of the wrong stuff and there is no insulation. It might be able to contain a fire in a dome like structure, but there is more to an oven than that. The floors and the walls need to be thick and dense enough to absorb a great...

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

It's been a while, but I am finally a couple of weeks away from breaking in my wood fired oven. A couple of years ago, I fabbed my own clone of a Weber Kettle Pizza oven. It worked OK - but suffers from a design flaw (as do grills and Big Green Eggs) - not enough top heat. It also used a...

    Intertap vs Forward Sealing dimensions

Hi, I was wondering if anybody has good dimensions for Intertap faucets and the ubiquitous forward sealing faucets? The dimensions I am sepcifically looking for are the horizontal distance from the surface that mates with the shank to the rear of the spout. I am looking for the how far from...

Looking for ideas for a new kegerator

Number of taps will most likely be determined by how many kegs I can get in the fridge.

Looking for ideas for a new kegerator

I have a very unique opportunity to create a unique kegerator and I am looking for ideas. The important part is that my wife has signed off on the idea and while she thinks I a bit odd, she is supporting this idea. We have a 15+ yr old dishwasher that we both hate and to be honest, I couldn't...

Haier 7.1 cu ft freezer for $175 at Costco

I was just at Costco during lunch and saw that they have replaced the Haier freezer with a 7.2 cu ft one from HiSense. It was $109 after a $30 instant rebate. If I needed a new one, I would be all over that.

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

Looks like more than 1/4" offset to me - if that is a 1/2" shaft on the mill, the bottom of the shaft would be even with the center of the chuck if you were off 1/4". That is way too much to "fix" with a lovejoy coupler.

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

The easiest way to convert a 6 amp motor to hp is to google it. A good estimate is somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 hp. Use 1/3 for the LoveJoy configuration tool to be safer. A fair estimate of speed is 150 rpm. Service factor - leave it alone at 1 This then spits out that you want a L090...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

You would need a shaft to put int the chuck of the Harbor Freight drill. You will then need to pick the appropriate family of Lovejoy couplers based on the torque requirements. Take a look at the Lovejoy website - they have an online configuration tool that will make selection a lot easier...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

The best option I have found is a water jet. I am fortunate enough to have this near me and to be signed off on using the water jet - https://firstbuild.com/
