    1.000 in 2 days?! Help?

Just made a batch of cider (1 gallon), currently it is in its secondary, clarifying. Anyway it had a potential of about 10% (SG 1.076) because of the honey I added to it. I as well used Redstar Champagne yeast, and in 6 days it was already beginning to clear in the primary. Took a gravity ready...

    Toffee Apple Pear Cider

Just curious as to the amount of vanilla that should be used if going with the extract method. Has anyone used it with the recipe? I will be ready to bottle this weekend and need to know soonish.

Adding blended up Apples to the primary fermentation

I was going to ask the same thing. Why???? As far local food stores goes in my area, that will be the ones with the most tartness to them.

Adding blended up Apples to the primary fermentation

Okay after spending most of the day trying to see if this topic had already been discussed, I am having no luck. So I am going to start a new thread to address it. If you are aware of a thread that has already discussed this, then please point me to it. I made a recipe of cider this weekend...

    .25¢ 1 Gallon fermentor - works well

I can guarantee 100% they are PET. On the bottom it has the recycle sign with a "1" in the middle and says PETE on the bottom. It is better than other water jugs which usually have the "2" and have a tendency to absorb the flavor of whatever they have fermenting inside.

    .25¢ 1 Gallon fermentor - works well

Just thought I would share this being a newbie brewer. I know that to get started with brewing can be a little daunting due to the fact of having to purchase quite a few supplies to start things off. At least with this it can help to offset the cost of the other items. What I have found is a...

    Can I Stop Fermentation Early???

How about this... going back to original question about stopping the fermentation early. What if during the SG readings and sampling you find the taste where you like it and still approximately 1% of fermentable sugar left you decide to go ahead and bottle it. Understanding of course that if...

    Sam's Choice Sparkling Cider

Happy to report that over the weekend I wanted to see how the cider was doing. I took a SG reading and the result I got was 1.010 Compared to the original reading I had which was 1.045, it looks as if the alcohol content I currently have is around 4.6%. Someone will need to correct me if I...

    Sam's Choice Sparkling Cider

First time to ever try brewing at home and this is the recipe I choose after a lot of research into the art. I am happy to report that after collecting the necessary supplies and ingredients, it was very easy to put it all together and get the first batch going. The only two things that I...
