    German (style) Lager Bittering Hop

Oh, btw Yooper... I'm in Mount Pleasant. Beautiful day down here today!

    German (style) Lager Bittering Hop

Yes it is a lot of Cara malt =) This is definitely not the traditional Vienna recipe... I guess what I'm going for here is Vienna color (this is only estimated at 10L) and more sweetness than traditional. I've brewed this grain bill before. With a nice fermentable mash (148-150 or so) this comes...

    German (style) Lager Bittering Hop

Today I am brewing a Vienna style lager. Here's my grain bill for the curious: 5# Vienna Malt 4# Munich 9L 1.5# Caravienne .5# Carapils I've got plenty of Hallertau available for aroma, so that ones easy. However, I don't have anything in the way of German or Continental Bittering Hops...

Sparging too fast (not too long) introduces tannins?

Well I don't know the pH of my sparge water, but it's definitely not above 180°F. You have quite an interesting sparge method Menschmaschine! Are you an engineer of some sort perhaps?

Sparging too fast (not too long) introduces tannins?

Yes, my assumptions are based on my actual numbers. Efficiencies are consistently 75% or slightly better, and thanks to my refractometer I know I'm not sparging too long as to end with less than 2 degrees plato. Thanks everybody, I was pretty sure I wasn't risking anything but a stuck sparge by...

Sparging too fast (not too long) introduces tannins?

With 75% and better efficiency, I don't feel that channeling is an issue for me to worry about. And I should clarify.. I don't sparge down to 2 degrees, I sparge to 7 gallons. I've never actually gone past 4 that I know of. I was simply trying to point out that I shouldn't have to worry about...

Sparging too fast (not too long) introduces tannins?

Assuming: A) I get great efficiency (75%+) in my mash tun B) I've never stuck a sparge in my mash tun C) I've never sparged past 2 degrees Plato (1.008) Can I sparge too fast? I've told a couple of brewers recently that I fly sparge for 15 minutes (7 gallons of wort) with 75%...

    Better Bottle: Go All out?

I already have all that =D Allright, so those who have spent the moula for the bling seem not to regret it. Since I do have the CO2 system at hand to allow for closed loop, even pressurized transfers, to other BBs and kegs... I might just do it.

    Better Bottle: Go All out?

Sounds like we have a consensus... however I'd still love to hear if anybody has decided to blow the cash on the extras, and what they thought? At this point, though, it's looking like I'll just buy 4 basic setups.

    Better Bottle: Go All out?

I'm going to buy a couple of Better Bottles. I love clear fermentation vessles, but I just broke my first carboy the other day (no injuries, thank god!), so if I'm going to do it it will be Better Bottles. My initial plan was a pair of 6-gallon bottles and carboy hoods. Simple, compatible with...
