OK that makes me feel better. Decided to wait until early next week to give it a few more days in secondary and will then prime based on the Tasty Brew numbers. Thanks for the input!:rockin:
Hmmmm this puts me in a quandary as I was supposed to bottle this tonight. Tasty Brew is saying 3.7 oz of sugar to prime 5.5 gallons. Im wondering if I should up this slightly based on the long carbonation input.
Mine actually came in pretty close to my FG out of primary (two weeks). Did you use a yeast starter? I've noticed significantly better results since I started making starters, especially for the big beers. Hope it comes into shape soon!
Getting ready to finish this one up shortly. OG was 1.076 and FG is 1.010. On the fence between kegging and bottling. Will sleep on it and decide tomorrow.
Have this one in primary now. Went slightly higher on the grain bill and made a big ass starter so crossing my fingers. SG was 1.080 and hydrometer sample tasted great!
Flavor profile was spot on however our version came out significantly drier than Pliny. My guess is a process control issue on the front end which I'll attempt to fix on the next batch.
Did an IPA with Zythos and the bittering wasn't bad however it had virtually no hop aroma. Thinking about a re-do and adding 4 oz to the dry hop schedule.
Sorry for the late reply. This turned out AWESOME! A bit drier than the comparison Pliney but got nothing but rave reviews. Killed our bombers in two weeks. It is truly a hop-bomb and you could almost feel the enamel coming off your teeth. BTW bottled with 4 oz of corn sugar and carbonation came...
I brewed this exact recipe three weeks ago and just transfered to secondary today. Initial results are hoppy but smooth. Will post final results in two weeks when I keg/bottle.
