I've used a hop basket for my last two beers, with a strainer in the kegs. I have not noticed any change in the beer at all. Plus its easier than pouring the beer through a strainer later.
I just kegged a brew where I used White Labs WLP001 for the first time. While racking I noticed the trub looked different than I am used to. Normally I find a sludgy yeast cake but this time I found the bottom of an aquarium.
Is this normal for this strain of yeast? (in need of a sanity check)...
Update: I hacked it up. After making sure the fridge was not a lemon I have hacked it up to accommodate two kegs. Its beautiful :D.
Currently my plan is to serve off one keg while my backup carbs at serving pressure, once a keg kicks a brew starts.
