Ok this is getting silly, This is the third beer that I've made that was over carbonated (Only this time the beer itself is bad too) I just made this recipe http://hopville.com/recipe/1645084 gave it 3 weeks to ferment, hit target FG, bottled with the appropriate amount of priming sugar (5oz for...
Question is in the title. I understand that bottle conditioned beers are going to have yeast on the bottom but it seems like a lot of my beers seem to have TONS of sediment.
Would racking to a secondary help with this? Thanks!
Jon
Hey guys, Do you have any idea if this would work to crush grain for brewing? http://www.blendtec.com/products/view/kitchen_mill
It's my wives and I just saw it sitting on the counter...She used it to make flour but it looks like there are some settings for coarseness. I'm just hoping to buy...
ARgg this is driving me nuts! And I live in Pennsylvania so I can't just go buy a 6 pack somewhere haha.
I just watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SO4BTCy6JCU and the one dude, like you, said that it's bland and boring, the other dude gave it a 10 and said it was wonderful...
Hey guys, I was at a restaurant and I ordered an Anchor Steam because I had never had it before. From what I read Steam beers are ales but generally taste more like a lager. I had heard about Anchor Steam a lot and had the idea in my head that it was just more of a mass produced, popular plain...
This is probably a stupid noob question but can you bottle ferment a cold crashed beer? I'm just wondering if there will be enough yeast to eat the priming sugar. Or is cold crashing only meant for force carbonated beers? Thanks
So me and some friends are brewing a hop bomb today. Ive heard a larger boil is better for that because the wort retains more bitterness when there is less sugar in it.. is that true and if so should i add my DME and sr in lte in the boil? How late? Thanks!
Hey guys, have you noticed that the Hopville FG calculations seem to be too high? I was messing around and the numbers didn't seem to add up.. here are some examples
http://hopville.com/recipe/1287336/imperial-ipa-recipes/357-magnum
it's showing 1.027 for a FG but that seems really really...
Yeah, I'm actually pretty new to brewing and very new to Hopville but something seems to be off, I agree 1.026 sounds pretty high, all of Hopvilles estimated FG's seem high...not sure why

What do you think guys? Get it? 357 :) (Darn hopville won't let me do 7 oz dry hop so I had to do 6 + 1)
That's a good point. All I've done this far is a partial boil (3.5 gallons or so) although I think my pot could handle a full 5 gallon boil.....I don't have a wort chiller though so that could be quite a long cooling process in my sink.
Ok yeah you're right, if I overpower with the bittering hops I may miss out on some of the flavor which I don't want. And about dry hopping with Warrior, whoops! I meant Magnum, I screwed that up.
The reason I wanted to try dry hopping with Magnum is because Sierra Nevada does that with their...
