I've made a few batches where I experimented with 100% apple juice plus brown sugar, table sugar, or honey and various spices. Each batch has been unique but I'm wondering if sticking with sugars from apples only would taste better?
Some quick math says 14 of the 12 oz cans would be about 5...
I siphoned about 2 gallons of the cider secondary into the apple cyser secondary. I was surprised how much I could transfer. I must have lost a lot in the move from the primary to secondary. This will dilute the cyser alcohol content and perhaps start up a little more fermentation of the honey...
I've always been a big fan of cinnamon. I purchased 2 lbs of cinnamon sticks on Amazon for $15. They seemed fine but maybe they were old.
Thanks. I'll try a batch with spices in secondary.
These are the first large batches around 5 gallons that I've put together. The others were 1 gallon. I racked both to secondary today. I attached a picture of the 2 in secondary. (Cyser in carboy and cider in bucket)
5 Gallons of Apple Cyser (43 days in primary)
I did not have a hydrometer yet...
Thanks. I didn't top off the secondary carboy. This is why I added a dab of honey to hopefully produce some more CO2. Will this be ineffective? Maybe I should just top it off instead. And thanks for the yeast advice!
I'm a fan of ciders and for my first brew attempt I went with a cider. How did I do? What would you have done differently?
Ingredients: (See 1st picture)
1 gallon glass carboy + airlock
1 gallon of TreeTop Fresh Pressed Honeycrisp Apple Juice
2 lbs of honey (grocery store didn't have dextrose)...
