Anyone ever stored wort from steeping

I like the idea of doing the steeping in one pot while preparing the rest of the stuff. It might even be better because I've read that you should use less than 1 gal per pound of steeping grains to get best flavor, so I could step in say, 1 gal while boiling the other two - which probably takes...

    Stout Problem

I nearly had a heart attack last night when my fermentation apparently stopped completely right after I racked into secondary. Turned out that the bung was gradually pushing up out of the neck of the carboy just enough to let gas out. Eventually had to wrap foil around it and keep it tight with...

Anyone ever stored wort from steeping

I really want to brew this weekend but will not have much time. I'm thinking of steeping my grains tonight, then storing the resulting wort in the fridge until Saturday morning. I'll then heat it up, add the extract and hops etc and off I go. Anyone ever done this? See any problems with it?

    Fermentation question

Sorry about your hydrometer - that sucks! This style is supposed to be low in alcohol - about 3.5 to 4% ABV. I'm a Brit myself so I know! I grew up drinking 6-10 pints of this stuff in an evening (20 oz imperial pints), so it can't be too strong or the legs don't work very well:drunk: I...

    Fermentation question

What was the original gravity and what is the current gravity reading? If you work out how much alcohol it has already produced you may find that adding sugar is not necessary. As for the un-alcoholic batch - did it it ferment out to target final gravity? If not, that may be the reason for...

Left my "classic styles" book on the train!!!

I wanted to brew the Best Bitter from Brewing Classic Styles recipe this weekend and while I have the recipe written down (mostly), I will be doing a three gallon boil. Now in the book, they talk about adjusting the amount of extract to add for a 3 gallon boil by estimating the points per gallon...

    Definition of Heaven

I found heaven many years ago - on a tour of the Fullers Chiswick Brewery in South London. Heaven was a bar ----- with no till (checkout):D:D:D Picture the scene: A bar with draft London Pride, ESB and Golden Pride! And no way for them to take any money from you! There was no limit on...
