    Hard Lemonade

LHBS only had 1 pack ec-1118, so that is what I went with. I added 1-1/2 cups of sugar to 1-1/2 qt of water. I rehydrated the yeast and added a cup of the sugar water to the starter every 1-2 hours. I let that sit for a day and it was looking pretty healthy, so I stirred up the lemonade must...

    Hard Lemonade

I added the yeast nutrient, yeast enegry and the campden to the must all at the same time. Probably 1-1/2 hour before I added the starter. Maybe not even that long, the whole process from start to finish was only about 2-1/2 hours.

    Hard Lemonade

After a week, no drop. I was talking to the local homebrew store and he seems to think 4 campden tablets is too much because each one was 150 ppm. He said they used to be 50 ppm. I stirred the crap out of it to help drive off some. I will start another pack of ec-1118 tomorrow and see if I can...

    Hard Lemonade

It's a little late in the season to start lemonade, but I had to give this a try. I used the updated version by LooyvilleLarry. I hydrated 2 packs of EC-1118 for 15 min and stepped up the starter. I guess I didn't follow the time line though. I had signs of fermentation in 10-20 mins each...

    Burner parts

Some more adjusting and I got a flame I'm happy with. I ended up wrapping the end of orifice in a layer of thin aluminum foil and then used a toothpick make my own orifice size. I can now open it wide open and get a nice blue flame. I also lowered the cooking grate about 1-1/2". I have the...

    Burner parts

Here is a picture of the burner in action. The soot is worse than it could be because I ran it at full for a bit to see what it would do and that is when the soot got really bad. But, even at 3/4 open, half of the soot was there. As you can see, the flame is pretty yellow. Where can I...

    Burner parts

I got the conversion valve today. The end was too big to fit in the burner. I decided to enlarge the hole and tap it to fit the fitting. I thought I had the threads matched up and went to enlarge the hole. I drilled the a 1/2" hole and I quickly found out that I goofed. The hole was too big...

    Burner parts

This one was $40 in the Tippecanoe forsale. Good luck on the one for $30. Other than the missing orifice, this one seems pretty nice. I ordered the hurricane conversion valve to see if I can get this to work no NG. Hope to have the valve and the hose before the weekend and will post the...

    Burner parts

Here is a picture of the burner. Here is a picture of where the orifice attaches. This would also be covered by a rotating vent.

    Burner parts

I picked up an Eastman turkey fryer kit from craigslist today. Was new, but been sitting for years. Looked to have all the parts, so I bought it. Problem is there isn't an orifice included with the kit. It also looks like the hose isn't the stock hose. The one shown in the manual has a...

    Mismatch ports on keg???

I agree, I tried to use one of the Firestone poppets and it didn't work out. As an update, I emailed Midwest about the issues and they agreed that the setup was not proper and they are sending me the correct post and poppet to fix the problem. Its good to see a vendor stand behind their product.

    Mismatch ports on keg???

I'm new to this, but something doesn't seem right. I got 2 reconditioned kegs. One seems fine and all part look like a standard firestone keg. The other one has Cornelius etched in the side and the out port has a standard Cornelius port on it. By this I mean, it is narrow, has a 11/16" 6...

Running Jonson Control Probe into Keezer

I purchased a freezer that was set up as a commercial kegerator. The previous owner was using a basic outlet timer to keep the keg from freezing. I didn't like the idea, so I've added an analog Johnson Controls temperature controller. The freezer is deep enough to hold 4 kegs and the co2 tank...

New beer lines in my kegerator - 3' too short?

This is confusing to me. I've read so many things. I used the calculator and it says I should have ~53" of beer line. Then I see most kits come with 5' of beer line. Then I read several people recommending 8-10' of beer line. The system I bought was set up with only 2' of beer line and they...

    Best Keg supply?

I'm in Indiana and have had good luck with midwest supplies so I ended up ordering from them. I picked up the freezer tonight and it was in good shape, had one tap in the front and they were controlling the temperature with a basic timer. It had a 2.5# tank with a basic regulator with one...
