    Best Auto-Brew Systems

I'm getting back to homebrewing after opening a ~1000 bbl/year commercial brewery (which I sold off my ownership interest in) where I was responsible for our wholesale division and haven't touched a brewhouse in probably 3+ years and haven't homebrewed in probably 6. I see a number of...

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

Looks like it's picked up some oxidized sherry / tawny color.

I've got 2 bottles of 2013 and 1 bottle of 2014 Imperial Stout Trooper from New England Brewing Company and 2 2014 KBS. My full cellar is here: https://www.cellarhq.com/cellars/Shred Let me know if anything catches your eye and what you have to offer. I'm wanting to try Cantillion (any) and...

Can too much headspace in the fermenter be a problem for a healthy fermentation?

Nope. Shouldn't pose a problem. Once fermenation starts CO2 will quickly push the excess O2 out.

Wine making advice for a beer brewer?

Patience is certainly not the issue. I've got a rack in the basement that holds roughly 250 wine bottles. I have other homemade wines down there varying from 1-3 years of age... I'm just looking to take my homemade wines to the next level. I have many award-winning beers and I'd be interested...

Forgot to check FG before bottling/priming

I've never done this, but I'd imagine you'd want to fully degas before taking your reading. The CO2 will probably offer some "lift" to the hydrometer. If you did extract, your numbers should be damn close to target anyway.

Wine making advice for a beer brewer?

What are the thoughts on using O2 pre-fermentation? Is that a common practice to help will yeast cell health? Also, temp control (or ideal ferm temps)?

Wine making advice for a beer brewer?

Thanks all... not my first kit, but I've been underwhelmed by my previous kits (though they were slightly lower-priced). I've also had issues with residual carbonation. I know long-term bulk aging can help, but I rigged up a brake line bleeder to follow the drill paddler thing and hopefully...

Wine making advice for a beer brewer?

What's the best piece(s) of advice you can offer to a relatively accomplished beer brewer looking to take wine beyond the instruction booklet in the kit? In brewing, my biggest improvements came with an understanding of pitch rate, temp control and water filtration. How do I take a decent...

I'll be pouring home brewed Belgian Golden Strong and Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout during the dessert course of a charity fundraiser this Sunday. Should be fun.

Help troubleshooting my new DIY RIMS Controller, please

Yeah, I think for the $25 or so it's worth it to do it right. Too late to return my other PID but we'll just call it a lesson learned. SNR PID it is.

Help troubleshooting my new DIY RIMS Controller, please

Not bursting my bubble at all. I'm glad that's all it is. Sucks that I'm out the $25, but if buying a new PID fixes the issue and I can finally use this thing, I'm thrilled! So, if I grab an SNR PID controller, I should be good to go?
