I went through the hassle of building this and found it completely unnecessary. Why not try it first and if you get an unacceptable amount of frost you can then add it?

I roasted the nibs at 300 for 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18 minutes. We found 12 to be the best. Try it for yourselves. The taste changes rapidly when roasted.
