    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Lets see...you posed a question "whats the difference if the outlet is 5 or 50 feet away?" And I provided a simple, fact based answer to your question. Then, because you are clearly some genius engineer, you felt the need to go off on me for simply providing a fact based anwer to the question...

You should do that. People like you need to be protected from yourself.

What I said is not a "strawman argument", it is a statement of fact genius.

Current draw can produce heat. This can present a fire hazard....especially of the gauge of the cord is not large enough, or if there are any defects in the protective shell around the cord. It is the current converted to heat by the resistance of the copper which is dangerous and can melt the...

Have you considered talking to your landlord about adding a 220v outlet in the garage? If you are willing to pay for it...they may allow it. I see using a 50ft extension cord on a 220v appliance filled with basically what could be considered boiling "sugar water" to be a major hazard, but...

If you are willing to drop $2000 or more on this system...spend another $350 and hire an electrician to install a 220v outlet. That's what I did. .. Seems like a no-brainer to me. I really don't understand why people want to try and run this with a 110v adapter. You are dealing with an...

Well, my first brew day with the 20L is done. Started at 10 am, and just finished with final cleanup at 4pm. So 6 hours total for my first run...not too shabby. This thing is amazing. I decided to go with a Northern Brewer all grain kit for my first brew. Used their Rye Stout kit. A very simple...

True bourbon barrel aged imperial stout

How many times can you use a bourbon barrel to age beer? When you get it from the distillery, do you have to sanitize the inside before filling with the beer? Our local distillery has used 8 gallon barrels for sale, but they are $200. I don't want to buy one if I'll only get to use it for a...

So I ordered the 20l stainless chiller with my Braumeister...and it came with "quick disconnect" male ends already installed. I just went the local hardware store to buy the female ends so that I could hook it up to a garden hose...but the standard female ends they have to use with garden hoses...

My 20L has finally arrived...1st brew in a few days...have to try and rig the "dip tube" mod first. I haven't been this excited about something for a while..can't wait to fire it up. Looks like Speidels has been listening to this thread...the packaging was stellar...no damage of any kind...and...

Howdy Braumeister users. I am hoping to have my 20L unit in the next 2-3 weeks, and am trying to plan my first brew. I was thinking of going with the following Belgian Dubbel recipe that is the "beer of the week" on the HBA website: Ingredients for 6 U.S. Gallons (23 L) 10.6 lbs (4.81 kg) |...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Well...after reading this entire thread through twice, I just pulled the trigger and ordered the 20L Braumeister from Thorsten at MoreBeer4U in Florida. The 4-6 week wait now starts. Have an electrician coming this week to install the 220v outlet for me in the garage. I'm also hoping to go down...

Great summary. really have come to appreciate all the time users like you have taken to create such an invaluable library of info about the Braumeister. I have just finished reading through all 140 plus pages of this thread, and have decided to purchase a BM. Would it be a reasonable...

Do you know if you can safely plug that transformer into an extension cord in order to use it with the 20L?
