I'm wondering looking at mine if the problem with the air tight seal is not that actual lid but the black piece that the lid screws into and where it attaches to the tank. I would think the way it screws in pretty tight that should seal but I do notice where the black ring and the tank meets...
Great idea, I could get two of these a clamp and a gasket and replace the male pvc with a female pvc end on the yeast catcher. Then there will be no future threading problems just use the tri colver clamp to remove the yeast catcher. I will see if I place the order tomorrow so I can still...
Grrrr... So I made a batch today to be the second go at my build and I could not get my yeast catcher to thread on straight and the plastic threads are now crooked and now I'm looking for an alternative. Anyone else have problems with their yeast catcher threading into the ball valve after a...
Hey guys, thought I'd send a few pictures of my yeast catcher and its yummy contents when I removed it to keg. I had dumped out some trub after 1 week and this is the final dumping after week 2. Also this is a Light Ale with very little hops and no grains (extract) so I could only imagine a beer...
Don't need to be doing AG to use one of these, soon as you go to 10 gallon extract batches (what I'm doing at the moment while I get my equipment and knowledge of AG setup)
I haven't tried it, first batch is in there now. I dont have a 1 1/2 hose or barb to even try on this batch, I have the bulk head and 1/2 valve that I'll attach after this batch.
Certainly could except on my build it would be to low to gravity feed into a corny.:) Another use for the second vavle is a simple way of taking a gravity reading.
My thought with the second bulkhead for racking is to not introduce air by just opening the bottom valve and leting it just drop into my corny's, this way I can put a hose and feed it to the bottom of the corny. Just my thought other input would be good though.
Mine is 2' x 2' on the top and is 36" high. Enough room for me to look into it and pour in yeast without needing a step stool, I also have enough room to put a 5 gallon bucket when the yeast catcher is removed (helpful when cleaning and sanitizing just dump into the bucket and dispose) and when...
Thanks yeah on the stand I got a 2'x2' 3/4" plywood from HD (they sell it as pieces for this size), then just built the frame using 2x4's using 3" drywall screws. The hole I cut wasnt a perfect circle so I got some copper pipe insulation to put around my cut out hole to help protect it (not sure...
Got mine setup over the weekend and got my first batch in it, haven't installed the bulkhead for racking just waiting to see where i should put it after first batch.
Working on getting my first 15 gallon plastic connical into action and just got my Stockham 1-1/2" 3 piece ball vavles just like the one Spotted Dog Brewing is using. The problem I'm having is the valves are incredibly tought to open and close, any suggestions?
