    Yerba mate recipe

Monkey Blood is not a failure! I need to drink some more of it before I really break down, but it is very drinkable (read: not the disaster I was afraid of). The 5 other people that have tasted it liked it. It is super unique. Tastes a lot like the brand I used that is unique to begin with...

What you need to know about chocolate for brewing

Southern Tier Choklat is the chocolate-iest beer I've ever had and it is 11% Anyone have any insight into their process?

    Yerba mate recipe

I just transferred my "Bolivian Monkey Blood" (working title) last night. The sample tasted pretty good. Had most of what I was looking for. I know it still has some work to do so I don't want to judge too much right now. I am happy with it at this stage. I think I got the proportions right...

J.W. Lees Harvest Ale (Barley Wine) All-Grain

Update? Just had a Harvest for the first time and loved it. This is probably a n00b question, but any chance I can pull this off with extract? Also, like mentioned, Harvest is pretty sweet. The ones I had were barrel aged though so there were some dynamics there I'd like to try to mimic. It...

    Yerba mate recipe

I did it. It has been in primary since Monday night. Yeast is kicking. Really disappointed I forgot to take a sample. So I don't have the OG and I didn't get a taste. Oh well. I used a pretty decent amount of of Yerba Mate. Almost a half gallon of strained tea. I'll keep you guys posted.

    Nugget Nectar Clone

Thanks for the help. Does it have to be pure Munich LME? I ca't find that anywhere. I 6lbs of Northern Brewer Munich, but that is 50/50 Munich/Pale.

Why decant a bigger yeast starter?

This sounds like you are pitching yeast out of the tube along with a starter. Doesn't the starter take the place of the tube yeast?

    Yerba mate recipe

Good tips Denny. Must common way to mess up Yerba Mate is to boil the water. I don't think putting the leaves and stems in would do anything beneficial. They get "spent" fairly quickly. Better to use them to make a concentrate and dump it in. Denny convinced me to add to primary. If it...

    Yerba mate recipe

I'm trying a version of this next week. I am going to put the yerba in a French Coffee Press to make a "tea" out of it, and I am going to use a Nugget Nectar clone for it, and a yerba with orange peels. Besides those decisions I have no idea what I'm going to do. I'm either going to add the...
