Time to take the plunge... Single Tier Plans

Yes, it'll be fine. The little "stubs" are only 3" long and no one stub will aver be capable of bearing the full weight of the kettle alone. They're really only there to help out in the event that the kettle shifts on the main frame members and come off-center on the square aperture. The stand...

Time to take the plunge... Single Tier Plans

For the kettle supports on mine, I am just cutting some 3" long pieces of the same stock and having them protrude perpendicularly from each of the inner sides of the hole that is below each keg - a total of 12 in all. It leaves a hole in the center to allow flame, etc. to get up there, but keeps...

Time to take the plunge... Single Tier Plans

I'll second that on the 2x2. I'm building a nearly identical stand right now out of 1.5x1.5x.120 and it is really, really heavy. If weight isn't a consideration and the stock is cheap though... hell... why not?! :)

HERMS or RIMS for my new setup... opinions?

I'm nearly done building the frame for my new single-tier brewing rig (pics to come soon). I plan on using 3 keggles for HLT, MT and Boil Kettle with 2 March pumps to move things around from vessel to vessel. My quandry is whether to go with a HERMS or RIMS system. I really like the looks of...

My attempt at a single tier brew sculpture

Did you get that stuff at Escondido Metal Supply? I think I saw that same stuff out in the scrap yard the other day and was wondering about it. Did it weld up ok? You're using a MIG? I'm in Carlsbad, down by La Costa resort. I'm glad to hear that pickled stuff worked out well - it seemed like...

Cleaning burned sanke kegs - any advice?

So, I burned the tops off of a couple of these things and it's looking like the ones that have visible burning and rust on the outside got too hot and they're just as messed up on the inside as on the outside. The guy at the media blasting place said that they're no good for food service...

Cleaning burned sanke kegs - any advice?

Yes, the heat and composition change is something I'm worred about as well. I knew nothing of the properties of stainless when I bought these (they were almost free, so if they're ruined, it's not a big deal), so I didn't know what I was getting into. I don't know how I'd be able to tell if they...

"Birra Kucing Gila - Minum dan jangan muntah"... I just noticed your sig... Anda bisa bicara bahasa Indonesia? Aku juga, tetapi sedikit saja. Anda dari Indonesia? :)

Cleaning burned sanke kegs - any advice?

as in media/sand blasting? Is that ok to do on the kegs? I would assume that would work harden them a bit, no? I guess perhaps it doesn't matter if all that's being done is burning the tops off with a plasma torch and welding in some couplings. If media blasting is ok, I'll probably take 'em to...

Cleaning burned sanke kegs - any advice?

So, I came across a really good deal on 18 half barrel sanke kegs that I plan on converting to a few brewing kettles to myself and then likely converting the others and maybe giving to friends or selling them. Anyhow, the "how" I came by them is that they were all in a large brushfire here in...
