As others have said, there's plenty going on. The quiet here may be a reflection of how active the homebrew clubs are.

Have you checked out the two major Suffolk focused clubs? I'm also a member of Long Island Beer & Malt Enthusaists (LIBME - www.beermalt.org), and there's also Brewer's East End Revival (B.E.E.R. - http://www.beerhbc.org/NewSite/).
