I'm making a MLT out of a cooler and I need a braided hose to help strain the wort. Does anyone know if it's safe to use a polymer and not stainless steel?

I have this exact problem. I need to clean my 6 gallon better bottle but my brush has rust all over it. I guess ill just do my best to rinse the carboy thoroughly after using the rusty brush.

It was a partial mash kit i bought at my LHBS, Belgian Strong Blonde, I call it "Blonde Bombshell". I wanted to amp up the alcohol (it was my first beer after all!) so I added 2 lbs of cane sugar.
And you could taste the maple syrup when you used it as a primer. How much did you use? 3/4 cup for 5 gallons? Also I have heard smoked malts can overpower more delicate flavors like maple syrup. What do you think is a good amount to use?
