my wine has gas in it, can i get rid of it?

Hello, I made about 18 bottles of elderflower wine 2 months ago and opened one last night (i couldn't wait any longer) and it was ever so slightly bubbly. If I open all my other bottles and let the gas leave can I rebottle them again and have wine ready for christmas? Kind regards, Sam.

Elderflower Wine is too Sweet & Strong, can I fix it before bottling?

The website I usually buy stuff from has the Lalvin K1 out of stock, but I'll buy some when they have it back in. On another website I bought an ale yeast (Fermentis SafAle T-58), but it has an expirary date of March 2021 haha. Is it a silly question to ask if that's usable or should I return it?

Elderflower Wine is too Sweet & Strong, can I fix it before bottling?

I was stirring twice a day as well, at 8am and again at 8pm for 7 days. I checked the reading over the last couple of days and it didn't move, so I added some more Youngs yeast this morning. Before I added the yeast today I noticed that it did seem fizzy as well. Some bubbles were coming to...

Elderflower Wine is too Sweet & Strong, can I fix it before bottling?

Hi D, Thank you for pointing that out, yes it looks like it's at 3.41 ABV. I started on 12/06/2022 with 20 litres. I used 5 grams of Youngs All Purpose White Wine Yeast. I added the yeast, yeast nutrient and a little sugar to a glass of warm water and left for ten minutes to allow the yeast to...

Elderflower Wine is too Sweet & Strong, can I fix it before bottling?

Hi, I'm making elderflower wine for the first time and I'll be bottling it in a week or so, but after checking it today it's very sweet and may be very strong if I'm using the correct calculation. O.G. 0.9 and Gravity today 0.64. My calculation is 0.9 - 0.64 = 0.26 x 131 = 34.06. Is my...

My Gravity Reading Has Barely Moved, What Have I Done Wrong?

Thanks for the advice, that sounds like a good idea for testing it, I'll try that on my next batch.

My Gravity Reading Has Barely Moved, What Have I Done Wrong?

I don't have the box anymore so can't be sure, but it does say 4kg on the link I sent. It was just one big plastic sack of extract. The spraymalt was still clumpy when I took the OGR so maybe that's why the reading wasn't closer to 1058. Also yes the bubbling has slowed down since I first...

My Gravity Reading Has Barely Moved, What Have I Done Wrong?

The reading may have been slightly off 1048, but not by much I reckon. Also when I added the spraymalt, I added it just after the hot water was added, it turned clumpy because of the steam, maybe that had an effect. Link below to the beer I'm using. Also I just added some ale yeast and the...

23l in total and it was just the yeast which came with the kit, no idea what type of yeast exactly

My Gravity Reading Has Barely Moved, What Have I Done Wrong?

Hi Jdauria, Thanks for the reply. Yes the yeast came with the kit and no I didn't check the date. I'll do that in future definitely. I do have a pack of extra yeast which I'll add to the vessel now and see what happens. Does it need to be stirred or just spread it on top? Any idea why it...

My Gravity Reading Has Barely Moved, What Have I Done Wrong?

Hello, I'm brewing a Bulldog Triple Tykes Export Ale. It says everything is in the kit so does not need any extra sugar added. However I did add 500g of spraymalt to increase the abv. OGR was 1048 and today after two weeks the GR is 1030. So a little over 2% abv. Airlock was bubbling nicely...
