Just bottled my first brew (the Fat Boy mentioned previously) and it tasted great out of the bottling bucket (I drank 1/3 of a bottle because the last bottle didn't get filled completely).
I can't wait for it to carb up. :mug:
I'm going to brew my second one tonight. And I'm going with...
It has an auto transmission - because that's relevant here, I promise.
Anyway. It was an extremely hasty purchase because I needed a car to get me home from VA to WI (leave time. I moved from Pearl Harbor)... I ended up making a huge mistake and spent 2k making sure it was good to go for the...
Can anyone recommend a good wine thief and test tube? Found plenty lying around Amazon and brew sites but I figured it'd be best to take a recommendation from experienced folks...
thanks :)
Hello as well from Norfolk, VA. I just started brewing myself.
Hm. I suppose I can provide my noob opinion.
1. I let my beer ferment at room temperature in a closet. The temperature in the house hovered around 63-69 so I didn't have a problem. I just racked to the secondary and it seems...
I've been grabbing whatever looks tasty from the package store. Home brewing gives me plenty of reason to buy lots of beer - FOR THE BOTTLES, duh! At least, that's what I tell the wife... :)

Oh yeah. Recipe.
It's called Fat Boy Amber.
My OG was 1.049 and it fermented in the primary for 7 days. Going to leave it in the secondary for about 10 days and the bottles for 2 weeks before busting it open. (as suggested by the brew store folks)
Indeed in hindsight I probably could have...
I'm currently making my own I transferred the 'ol beer to the secondary fermenter last night and I decided to take a taste test to ensure there wasn't any rampant contamination (a silly mistake warranted that action.).
It tasted a very watery with a hint of alcoholic carbony goodness. And I...
For the most part I'm most people :)
I can certainly agree with your suggestion of diminishing returns. I had a friend once who was 100% alcoholic and spent a lot of money on wines (and other booze...). When I drank with him I could very rarely determine a difference between $50 and $30...
