I just finished my first cider two weeks in the primary and three in the secondary, it cleared nicely, smells great but is very dry. I would like to improve the sweetness and apple flavor and am looking for a bit of advice.
A couple of things before you add your input.
1. It's a 3 gallon...
The Mrs. is doing some custom etched beer bottles for a friend. To obtain the bottles for this project I was forced to consume 6 six packs of various makers brews. (Please contain your sympathies for my plight). Having gotten said 36 bottles empty I then removed the labels using the soak in...
Why is you bucket sitting in a tub of water? I'm guessing that it's just to cool and your yeast is asleep. I would try warming the room to about 70 and give it a couple of days. If nothing happens repitch.
During the cool months I ferment my beer in our laundry room where I keep a small oil...
Just brewed a batch and have had it sitting in the secondary for about a week. I used home made vanilla extract and added a few of the beans from our extract bottle. Due to my late start and the need to have it on tap for our thanksgiving gathering I'm going to keg it a bit earlier than I...
I ended up reptiching the yeast Sunday morning (after things progressed farther than the above pic but not much). And this morning I have......
Making me much happier.
Probably unnecessary panic on my part but I am brewing a Vanilla Stout using liquid yeast and I pitched my yeast about 11PM on Tuesday night. There was no visable signs of fermentation at all until this morning when I have a bit. (Picture below) Am I OK or should I repitch. My wort is sitting...
My current set up is a dual keg CO2 system and a single nitro system. I've got a nice brown ale on one of my CO2's and lovely stout on the nitro. While I am quite ready to brew a third beer, my pregnant wife has asked for me to make some root beer for her and the kids. Which finally leads me to...
I transferred my Guinness clone to the secondary over a week ago, and do to some delays in my keezer parts arriving, it will need to stay there for at least another week. How long is it OK to hold the beer in the secondary?
Steve
I realize there is no reason to worry but of course I am.
Just made my second batch on Saturday afternoon (50hrs ago) and have had no bubbling yet. I did initially have it stored in my laundry room where it was probably too cold (60) so I moved it to a different room this morning where the...
For xmas the Mrs. launched me on the homebrew path and one of the early decisions I made was that bottling wasn't something I wanted to do. I'm fortunate enough to have a Fridgadaire commercial frost free upright freezer sitting in the garage that we used to use to store raw dog food (don't...
Thanks very much for the quick replies
Beak - I'm planning on doing exactly as you suggested and carbing the stout at 7 PSI on my CO2 system while I wait for the beer gas parts to arrive.

I just purchased a very similar setup to the one you are getting. I did the door mount kit

Hello, I'm brand new at home brewing and have two non related questions, one is about brewing and the second keging.
1.The brewing question. I'm using one of those liquid yeast packs with the nutrient pack inside. The directions call for breaking the nutrient pack and letting it sit for three...
