    Teamwork keezer

Thanks Vern -unfortunately it’s a totally closed unit with no access to condenser.I spoke with someone in the business and they said the R-134a is notorious for creating waxy deposits that clog up the lines - he said this after discovering only one side of the fridge would get warm in operation...

    Teamwork keezer

Hi all - I have a keezer that is struggling to stay cold in the garage - any time the outside temps get above about 80 it gets away from the preset temp on my controller. I had a chat with a refrigeration expert, he thinks fixing the issue will be much more trouble than it’s worth. I do have a...

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

I'm considering this one also! Struggling to find inside dimensions!

    Too vigorous?

Good point! I remember someone in here saying something like "monks brewed beer hundreds of years before starsan, outside, next to a river. Quit your fussing, it'll be fine."

    Too vigorous?

Thanks Nathan! Apparently taking a break from brewing results in beginner level neurosis when you return

Stuck 'Sparge' - Rice hulls the answer?

Thanks for the comments RM-MN! I must have misunderstood the purpose of the mashout, I will try the next beer with the cold sparge. As for the aeration, I start the drill very slowly, using it only to move the wort more effectively over the coils. Once its cool, I let rip. I'm also...

    Too vigorous?

Brewer a 1.047 dry Irish stout yesterday. Pitched 2l starter of 1084 Irish ale 24 hours ago into 65 degree wort. Set my fridge temp controller to 17, and I come home from work to this! Even though the temp is on the low side of the range, I've never seen bubbles coming this fast before. This...

Stuck 'Sparge' - Rice hulls the answer?

This past weekend, my wife and I brewed a dry Irish stout with 2.5 pounds of flaked barley (~25% of the grain bill). During my psuedo sparge, the bag clogged up, and my efficiency suffered a little bit (plus I popped a seam while squeezing my grain bag!). I'm thinking that next time I do a...

Clarity-Ferm, Gluten Testing, and Gluten Sensitivity

Thanks for the responses guys, will report back on results! Wyeast I bought turned out to be manufactured on November 3rd (ugh!), so with that atrocious 27% viability I've had to do two 4 litre starters. Brew day still on schedule.

Clarity-Ferm, Gluten Testing, and Gluten Sensitivity

Will be brewing a Vienna Lager this weekend (Revvy's recipe, on this forum) and will be adding Clarity ferm. Picked up some EZ-Gluten testing kits, will test after I've kegged the batch. If test is negative, the wife will try it and I'll report back. Wondering if there is any advantage to...

    Robust Porter Kit - Opinions?

Appreciate the comments everyone! I just uncovered some articles on clarity ferm which has me interested again, especially considering that my wife can drink omission without any noticeable effects. I've posted the articles in the clarity ferm thread and am awaiting comment from educated...

Clarity-Ferm, Gluten Testing, and Gluten Sensitivity

Any comments relating to the following experiment? http://beerandwinejournal.com/clarity-ferm-i/ http://beerandwinejournal.com/clarity-ferm-ii/ http://beerandwinejournal.com/clarity-ferm-iii/ Additionally, if someone can consume Omission beers without any adverse reactions, then using...
