Last minute wild cider experiment - what to do? Headspace?

.. thanks for this. I think I'll leave it 'as is', and maybe experiment with a few bottling options vs whole 5L containers. Then next year I'll have similar batch of juice pressed and be able to take the 'experiment' forward..

Last minute wild cider experiment - what to do? Headspace?

Hello again.. I'm back a little sooner than I'd thought. I had a couple of further questions. It turns out that the temperature has dropped much lower and quicker than I thought, and I've been told the three 5L containers (with airlocks) are sitting in a room which is now only 5C. Before I left...

Ferment under pressure and bottle condition

... sorry, typo! 0.8 bar (approx 11 psi) Thanks for the tip regards priming ;)

Ferment under pressure and bottle condition

Thanks again.. One quick question, if I struggle to get full fermentation before I have to bottle/leave (in 4 days), can I simply leave the Fermzilla in the fridge for 2 months (cold?) Spund setting? Won't it 'over hop' (I just hopped today) now running at 25c (77F) and down to 0.8 psi.. So...

Last minute wild cider experiment - what to do? Headspace?

Hey, thanks so much everybody, I really appreciate the suggestions.. I'm now going to leave the juice in the large bucket with a heat belt around it (it gets cold ant night here) until the end of the week, and as suggested, I'll divide into three 5L batches, maybe dilute all a bit, or just...

Ferment under pressure and bottle condition

OK, thanks (as ever).. Bed time here OK, many thanks again for this.. Bed time here now (late), so lots to sleep on. I'd never have thought of leaving the whole brew (with hops in?) in the fermenter for 2 months until I return (and bottle then). Much to process overnight.. ... deep end...

Ferment under pressure and bottle condition

@Broken Crow OK, many thanks for that. So, more learning here. To get the best going forward, maybe not open the collection container at all, and simply add the dry hops anyway and hope all the trub settles enough to at least give me a decent usable amount of liquid to bottle? (rather than...

Last minute wild cider experiment - what to do? Headspace?

@ Chalky Thank you so much for the suggestions, very much what I was wondering and hoping for.. I've finally finished pressing what I have, and it's 13-14L (maybe 3.5 gallons) and I took a hydrometer reading at 1042. I't all now in a large fermenter (see pics) and in a room around 20c (68F)...

Ferment under pressure and bottle condition

"You're in at the deep end here."... Thanks for reminding me. And yes, I am quite nervous as I have to have this all bottled before I leave at the end of next week. My emergency exit is that if the bottle filling direct from the Fermzilla goes wrong (blockages, foam etc.) I will decant into a...

Last minute wild cider experiment - what to do? Headspace?

Hi everyone.. I have generally brewed beer fom kits and now from all grain. Where I am right now we have apple trees and I am pressing as we speak. They are nice & sweet/tangy eating apples. I expect by tomorrow to have around 12-15 litres of juice (2.5-3.5 gallons). I'd like to try my first...

Ferment under pressure and bottle condition

I'm slightly strugging to fully grasp this. I'm doing my first ever pressure brew (only my second full grain/BIAB!) and am on day #2. The initial yeast 'storm' seems to have settled now and I plan to raise temperature from 23c to say 25-26c. My primary aim is to be able to complete a...
