Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Levitation

Thanks for the reply foltster. I think I'll try the 10 minute(ish) mash. Do you remember off hand if your efficiency strayed from normal, and what your OG and FG were using this technique? Your notes on bitterness are interesting, I've been having trouble pegging down what I'm going to do...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Levitation

10 Minute Mash?! That's crazy talk. Or is it? The Stone brewer on the show also confirms that they use a very short mash - would this have the effect of increasing fermentability of a wort mashed at high (~157) temp? Has anyone here tried a 10-20 minute mash on a lighter gravity beer...

S-05 and S-04 in an IIPA?

And my opinion, while I really like it, S-04 is better suited to browns and english beers where a more prominent malt character is desired. I've done a couple 10g IPA batches, and fermented a carboy each of S-04 and US-05. Same wort different beers. I've preferred the US-05 for the IPA style...

S-05 and S-04 in an IIPA?

A bit of simple sugar is totally acceptable in a big IIPA. With no sugar and a mash temp of 154+, a 1.090 beer would be cloying. My best beer to date has been a 1.076 IIPA mashed at 152, with half a pound of sugar added at 5 min. Perfect body, kinda Kate Upton-ish.

    Mill St. Cobblestone Stout?

Hey Rubes - I've had this beer at Gambrinus here in London, ON, and at the brew pub in the distillery district - albeit quite a while ago now. As I recall, it was a really nice beer, an extremely smooth example of a stout - a full pound of roasted barley is going to give you a very prominent...

Clone of local Blonde and Copper ales?

Hey RyboFlav, I'm up in London and have had both of these brews. I've also been to the brewery - you're right, nice fellow, but not very forthcoming with his ingredients! My favourite beer they do is the Dead Elephant IPA. Not sure if you've brewed your attempts yet - if so how did they...

    Tropical DIPA

I made the one below a couple months ago - and it was all tropical fruit. I was quite happy with the malt bill - nice 6.2srm colour (though was actually a bit darker w 90min boil and all those hops) and relatively light body for an Impy - the simple sugar is a great addition for that. One...

    Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion

Yeah - I noticed that he posted the recipe up there after I'd written mine. I think the version I had was V3... looks like he likes to change his recipes up as he goes along (like us!). I seem to recall an older Hoptical recipe on Bartowel that was all Amarillo. Your recipe looks great...

    Need water filter recommendations

Not sure what your setup is, but I use an RV water filter that I attach to the end of a potable water hose, attached to my laundry sink's faucet. Works great, high flow rates, great results. I got mine Canadian Tire, I'm sure they're available readily in your area...

    Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion

I'm going to be brewing the Smashbomb Atomic IPA (Citra!) soon, and might also try the Hoptical as well in the near future. I emailed Peter from Flying Monkeys on the Smashbomb, and he gave me some hints on his process. My recipe for Hoptical, based on comments from Peter might go something...
