I have been bugging my brewing buddy, who first showed the Catalyst fermentor that I use today, to start a podcast. Well, he's a football youtuber, so he just put it up there.
He asked me for feedback, but I am biased. Thought I'd post it here and see wha you guys think.
This is his try at...
I am playing with a recipe and thinking about using Merkur (Hallertauer Merkur) as a flavor addition around 15min. I have read conflicting takes on it as an aroma hop.
Anyone use it like this and what are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
Sounds good to me! And thanks for the update.
I'd be happy to give design feedback if you are looking for it. We've done a lot of batches through my 2 Catalysts to this point.
I just order a seal and a ball valve. Will report back after next brew day.
BUT....
I also just saw a claim on youtube that you're making a 7 gallon stainless catalyst... Is that true @Craftabrew?!?
I added the cover and moving it is MUCH easier. Well done on the design.
@Craftabrew - need suggestions on best procedure/bit for drilling the hole for the sampling port.
Also, Is the Catalyst designed to cold crash with a solid plug?
Does anyone have tips on cold crashing it?
Thanks
I am looking to do step mashes. Can you tell me how accurate the temps are. are they in 1 degree increments? Can you get the mast to 122 and 152 accurately?
Thanks
R
Anyone added it to their catalyst? Wondering how the drilling went and if the port is working as they want it to.
I like the idea of just closing the valve once the brew clears and keg from the port.
Thanks in advance!
