    Cold Crashing

    1. If I cold crash my beer, then keg it, is it okay for it to be warmed back up to mid sixties until I have room in my keezer? 2. Are there any ill effects if I cold crash in primary then let it warm back up before I keg it without racking? (I need more kegs, but they are hard to come by) Or...

Lager and Ales in one Chest Freezer

Is there a timing to getting multiple styles going in one chest freezer? I would just recently got a chest freezer with temperature control and am hoping to finally be able to make lagers/pilsners. My chest freezer, from craigslist, holds 4 six gallon carboys and a keg, so I'd like to get...

    Racking to Keg Outside

Finally, I got myself a chest freezer for fermentation, no more water bath ice packs!!! Anyways, my chest freezer is outside and I'd probably like to not have to lift my cooled cold crashed beer too far, especially since I'd have to walk it up some stairs. I realize this could lead to stirring...

    Co2 Tank From Hydroponic Store

The closest, easiest, and cheapest place for me to get a 20lb tank of Co2 is at the local hydroponic store. Is there any difference between this Co2 and the type I might get at a place like GasPro? I am assuming it is pure Co2 without additives.

    Carbing A Very Dry Saison

I have a Saison that has been in the primary about 2 months and yesterday I took a gravity sample for the first time. It read 1.003. I used WLP568. I plan on bottling the beer as I don't drink Saison's that often and I want to enter it in a Competition. I normally would prime with about a 1/2...

    Slurry Question

Not close to 1/2 full, maybe like an 1/8 full each. That is why I was thinking of pitching the two slurries into my starter.

    Slurry Question

I was planning on using two pint mason jars with slurry harvested on 6/28/13 to make the starter. I will decant before pitching the slurry.

    Slurry Question

I will be using some washed yeast slurry (White Labs San Diego) on my next 10 gallon batch. I will also be using White Labs Dry English yeast. I plan on making starters for both, but I only have one stir plate. Would it be better to put the slurry starter or vial starter on the stir plate?

What saves time on brew day?

I heat my boil kettle before the end of my collection, so the boil starts maybe only 5 minutes after I have my total volume of wort. Then throw in the hops and get to cleaning up the mash tun.

Using Washed Yeast without a Starter

One last thing, would it be okay to get that cup of slurry on Friday if I am brewing on Sunday or is it best to do it all on the same day? I'll keep it sealed in the fridge of course until Sunday of course.
