I have three separate one gallon batches of mead fermenting and thought one stalled. I stagger the nutrients and add more every few days instead of every 24 hours. I just added some today, but I took gravity readings and now I’m realizing it’s day 14 and they might’ve all just reached their...
I have a stalled batch of mead that I suspect is from too high of an OG so my plan is to pour some out, add some water, and throw in the last round of yeast nutrient and fermaid k. Would it help or hurt to also add some GoFerm?
Didn’t wind up in the fermenter. I also think I used too much water. 12 lbs of honey equals a gallon so I’m thinking 12-15 lbs plus 4 gallons of water makes a 5 gallon must. I used 5 gallons of water so I have closer to 6 gallons
So I know the general rule of thumb for making mead is 3 lbs. of honey for every 1 gallon of water/must, 15 lbs. for a 5 gallon batch...
I looked it up and 12 lbs. of honey equals roughly a gallon
So would that make a 5 gallon batch actually 12-15 lbs. of honey mixed with 4 gallons of water?
I...
I started my first batch of mead about a week ago and fear I lost a lot of honey in the process (didn’t scrape up as much as I could’ve). I have a possible abv of about 9% and it’s a five gallon batch. I used Lalvin EC-118, which wasn’t my first choice, but I used it for its wide temperature...
I just started my first batch of mead and keep accidentally spilling starsan solution from my cup airlock into my bucket fermenter; the first time was because I pressed on the lid like a noob and the second time was when I closed the lid after feeding it nutrients. (My batch is still okay from...
