    I don't remember what the rules were in Michigan (I lived there for 5 years for school) but in NY, even farm fresh cider is already pasturized.

    Welcome. I actually did cider for the first time this year and i find it much easier than beer. and actually, if you plan to use store/farm bought cider to make hard cider you can start right away! you don't need to boil the cider if its already been pasturized, you can just pitch you yeast...

    You'll be fine. I had the rubber grommet push through and into the beer when i went to put the airlock in and had to transfer to another bucket and back to get the grommet out (because ofc it doesn't float). And that one came out good. the additional aeration from transferring might...

    Boiling Question

    How long do you guys let the wort sit before chilling if you're adding extract at flameout? I never thought of this, do you just boil your hops for the 5/10/15min and then cut the heat and add extract?
