Ok thank you for the reassurance! I'll get some yeast for the bottling process and do what you said. Thanks :-)

    Cold..well freezing cold secondary

Alright so here's what happened: My beer was doing quite well, an evil twin extract kit from northern brewer. Fermented happily at 66-67 degrees for about 12 days. The hop material, crozien I think I heard it be called fell back in so I decided to transfer into secondary like the instructions...

    Small batch brewing

Thanks much folks, I'll probably end up getting a 5 gal. Would you suggest going to a homebrew shop for one or just getting a standard one for now? Also is it worth the extra cost for the spigot? I have some money saved & this is an investment so I'm willing to shell out a few extra bucks if...

    Quick beginner sanitation question

    Quick beginner sanitation question

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'll be soaking my caps as I use them...the oxygen barrier will hopefully hold on. If I notice problems with my brew, I'll look at that aspect as a factor first. -Dave

    Quick beginner sanitation question

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm gonna continue to sanitize them just to be safe. I'm not sure the kind of caps I bought but they seem to have a little bit of rubber on the inside. Is it bad to wet those? And if so how can I ensure that they are clean? Thanks, Dave

    Quick beginner sanitation question

Hey everyone, just got done fermenting my first batch of brew ever. I used a Mr. Beer kit. I was wondering, after I sanitize the bottles, do I also need to ensure the caps are sanitized as well? I did that just to be sure, but is that just an extra unnecessary step I'm doing? Thanks for your...

    Hello from PA/NY

Hey everyone! I'm a happy new owner of a Mr. Beer kit! My name is Dave, and I'm a Criminal Justice Student at the University at Albany. I'm currently home on break, and live about 15 mins west of Philadelphia, PA. I'm brewing my first batch of beer, and already feel the impatience settling...
