    Bung fell into wort, replacement?

Well, my beer seems to be doing great as it has a nice 3-4 inch head of foam on it so the fermentation is looking good. I will be able to get a bung after work tomorrow so it looks like its going to work out.

    Bung fell into wort, replacement?

I just took a piece of Seran Wrap and pulled it tight over the top and put a rubber band around the neck. I then slit a small hole with scissors and slipped my airlock in. I will let you all know how that holds up. Thanks again for the tips.

In that case, seran wrap it is. Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully, this works out because I was really looking forward to this batch.

    Bung fell into wort, replacement?

LBS is closed tomorrow and I somehow dont have duct tape or atleast I cant find it. I tried seran wrap but once I put the airlock in it, it is no longer airtight. Note to self - buy extra bungs.

    Bung fell into wort, replacement?

So I just syphoned my wort into my carboy and then pitched my yeast. I put my bung into the top and when I went to push my airlock onto the bung, it well down into the wort. Now I just sanitized the bung so I am not worried about that but what I can do to replace the bung? This thing is going...

    Dirty Bottles

I've always just used new bottles but for my next batch I am using a variety of old ones. So, for those with more experience will this method work? Soaking them in a tub all day with hot water and bleach. Then, taking them out and filling them with a little sanitizing solution. Then, let...

My Beer will never be cold again...

I am using an old hooded sweatshirt for my carboy. It works great. All I got to do to check on it is unzip and it fits it perfectly. No need to buy a carboy jacket

Is this safe to use as a brew pot

I just bought a set at Wal-Mart that has a 16 qt, a 12 qt and a 8 qt with lids. It was only 20 bucks. I plan on getting an 8 or 10 gallon eventually with a turkey fryer but I thought that was a good deal for now.

    Lots of sediment in bottles

I bought a carboy today that I will be using for primary so that I can avoid this problem in the future. I appreciate the feedback.

    Lots of sediment in bottles

I used a bottling bucket to ferment. When it came time to bottling I siphoned to a regular bucket. I then cleaned the bottling bucket within a manner of minutes and siphoned back to it and bottled from there.

    Lots of sediment in bottles

I plan on letting them sit for 3 weeks before popping the first one. I will probably refridgerate some of them a few days before drinking.

    Lots of sediment in bottles

I bottled my first batch on Sunday night. It was an IPA that I let sit in primary for 3 weeks, no secondary. I decided to take a look at some of the bottles today and noticed that they have lots of sediment floating around in them. Is that normal or did I get too much yeast and other crap...

I think that sounds really good. If you go through with it, I would love to hear how it turns out.
