    The reason I still take readings with extract is because I do not have a recipe to follow so I am still interested in the OG. Fermentation has violently started after 14 hours which is my quickest yet. This was the first time I used white labs liquid. thanks

    cold crash question!

    So after my brew has fermented for 3 weeks I want to crash it and then bottle. Is it ok to cool it that severely and then add sugar and put it into the bottle, then cap? OR Do you cold crash, then let it come back to room temperature and THEN bottle.

    isnt it a great feeling? I like to go in my brew closet and just watch the airlock bubble for a few minutes. Its a stress reliever for sure.

    If its cold for too long, dont quote me, but wont it for a cake on the bottom and you'd have to shake up for it to continue to work. The yeast dont die, they go dormant and you need to get it up to room temp for them to wake up, or if all your fermentable sugar is gone in your brew they will...
