I am harvesting about 1500 acres of sorghum and was looking for good sorghum beer reciepe? I have read it is bitter tasting and most people go gluten free when brewing sorghum beer. I don't care about gluten free I just want a good solid tasting dipa or something along those lines.
I had a beer hydrometer but when I went to brew today it fell and broke:eek::smack: but I have a alchol meter for liqour, Can I read gravitys with a alchol meter, if so whats the conversion? I would go buy anew hydrometer but brew shop is 1 1/2 hour drive round trip.
I did a 5 gal nut brown ale and got around 7% with a British yeast strain and then put distillers yeast in a gallon of the nut brown and it only got around 6 %. I don't understand why the distillers yeast was lower abv.
I have been buying hoppy beers and some Russian stouts that the abv is anywhere from 11% to 14%.how do they get there abv that high?i usually gate 8% at most.

Yes the readings are right, but I do mash in a ice chest and when I took temp reading to drain it the it dropped from 154 to 142 in a hour does that matter?
i watched them run it through the grinder machine, but after they crushed it I got called out to work for two weeks and couldnt brew it tell then.Will letting the grain sit in a bag crushed in a closet fo two weeks mess it up? MY BAD IT WAS 24 .82 POUNDS OF GRAIN
