Seeking advice on Avery IPA clone

Thanks for the input everyone. I feel a bit more confident trying this out now. Probably brew this weekend.

Seeking advice on Avery IPA clone

I don't mean to question KellyK's post, but being a novice homebrewer, I'm a little nervous to try hopping an IPA like that. Think maybe I'll try to get 40-50 IBUs via Columbus, 15-25 from Cascade & Centennial, and then Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook at flameout.

Seeking advice on Avery IPA clone

Also, when I put those hop numbers into Beer Alchemy, I get 21 IBUs. Does that huge knockout addition make up the difference?

Seeking advice on Avery IPA clone

Thank you! Folks on the NB forum were adamant about Avery's use of 1028, but California it is.

Seeking advice on Avery IPA clone

Can't seem to find a definitive clone recipe for this brew. I put this together in Beer Alchemy by cross referencing the Avery site with a thread on the Northern Brewer forum (a user there had formulated his recipe with some feedback from the brewery, but according to Avery's website they don't...

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

FedEx Express courier. Cool! I must admit to never paying much attention to colorists' names, but browsing your bibliography, I have to say I am a fan of your work.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I did the extract version of this about 6 weeks ago. Felt like everything went well, but boy I must have screwed something up. Checked my bottles after 2 weeks, and it tasted green and yeasty, but I figured it would mellow out. 4 weeks after bottling now, and the flavor hasn't changed much...

    Sanitizing routines ?

On brew day, I wash and sanitize my bucket & lid towards the end of the boil, and set the lid on loosely. I don't think it's necessary to allow it to dry. Once I've poured the wort in, I sanitize the lid (again) and airlock before sealing it up. On racking/bottling day, the siphon and tubing...

How many gallons of EdWort's Haus Pale Ale have been made?

This was my first AG a couple of weeks ago. Just bottled it today. 2145+5=2150

    Hello from Minneapolis!

I had been interested in homebrewing for years (I used work for a pizza joint that delivered to Northern Brewer) but only made the plunge after I moved into a bigger apartment. So far, I've got a few extract brews under my belt (2 kits from Midwest Supplies, and an extract version of...
