Bob, Long time no post. Life has a tendency of getting in the way of brewing. I need to upload pics of my brewstand. I am slowly progressing towards automation. Specifically RIMs. I will post more detail soon. Pikeman94

Recipe Review: Deschutes River Ale Clone

I will give this a run through my setup and let you know how the ABV turns out. I think a lot of times my ABV goes higher because my mash can get too efficient. I have noticed that when I got with 1.25 qt per pound of grain I miss my pre-boil OG and then my SG. However, when I went to 1.5 qt per...

Recipe Review: Deschutes River Ale Clone

I just had a few bottles of this over the weekend. I would agree with your dryness comment. I so want to brew this when I get the chance.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I am thinking about a quick batch of beer and this would fit the bill. The problem is that I don't have any Cara-pils on hand. I know Cara-pils adds body so what would be a good sub for this?

Autumn Seasonal Beer Richard's Pumpkin Ale

I am going to brew this once pumpkins go on sale the day after Halloween. I am thinking about putting the roasted pumpkin in the mash instead of the boil. Has anyone tried this? -Pikeman

    Another TSS2 controller box build

I am about to embark on wiring up my STC-1000, which is very similar to these controllers. In light of that I decided to borrow a friends voltage meter to see how many amps this freezer I bought would pull. When I plug the freezer in spikes to 12-13 amps, but then comes back down to 4.6 amps. My...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I would say yes on your 90 minute boil. Boiling longer allows a more malty profile to come out. I use this when brewing styles that focus on malt and not hops. Of course the 90 minute IPA bucks this theory ;)

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I used have used Notty, but the last few times my pitch temp was 63 because my counterflow chiller I made was a little too efficient. The beer ended up coming out with way too many fruit esters! It was almost like it was a fruit beer. After some research I discovered that Notty doesn't like...
