    Promash backed up on orders?

ProMash FTW. I have tried both beersmith and BeerTools and ProMash is still the better one. Don't spend anymore money on the others. PhreePhly

Mac OS X Snow Leopard... meh?

I don't need to worry, I'm happily running Windows 7 x64. I won't run OSX until I can legally put it on hardware of my choice. PhreePhly

Mac OS X Snow Leopard... meh?

You realize that the upgrade from Tiger is $169, right? I thought that was pretty crappy of Apple. PhreePhly

Suggestions on false bottom hole pattern

Thanks all. I will be fly sparging and more importantly, using a heating tank and recirculating my wort, so I need to keep as much grain as possible out of the wort that I will be pumping. My plan is to use the false bottom on top of a copper manifold. I'll draw it up and post it when i get...

Suggestions on false bottom hole pattern

I am looking at converting a 48 quart rectangular cooler into a mash/lauter tun, so I will need to make a false bottom. I want to use stainless steel, but I don't know what the hole pattern and sizing should be. Any ideas? Thanks,

    My Laptop with Vista SUCKS!!!!

Did you install Vista on it, or did it come pre-loaded with all the other crapware? I believe one of the biggest problems with Vista was OEMs screwing with the installs. My son got a a new laptop or Christmas, a Dell Studio 15, which came pre-loaded with Vista. It's a 2.4 GHz Core2 with 4 GB...

    My Laptop with Vista SUCKS!!!!

What mainboard and processor level functions are you talking about? Vista kernel functions are not that different from XP's. Can you give me an example of what you're talking about? PhreePhly

    My Laptop with Vista SUCKS!!!!

It really sounds like you have other issues, either hardware or way too little RAM. I would look at adding RAM. 2 GB RAM for laptops is currently around $35 PhreePhly

    My Laptop with Vista SUCKS!!!!

When my wife's new Dell showed up (about 5 years ago with XP on it) it was, too, was dog slow. Dell installs too much crapware on their systems. If you want to clean that up, go to Welcome | The PC Decrapifier and download the software. It helps. I just re-installed XP clean on her system...

    My Laptop with Vista SUCKS!!!!

I must just be really lucky, 'cause Vista has performed very well for me. I will only load on systems that can handle it, i.e. 1 GB RAM or better, discreet video GPU and video RAM and a core 2 or phenom processor. These specs are low end for a modern system. On these systems Vista performs...

    My Laptop with Vista SUCKS!!!!

Can you add more memory? RAM is pretty cheap and your laptop can probably max out to 2 GB. The problem is probably your GPU, which doesn't have its own memory, so it uses your RAM. I had a buddy by a cheap HP desktop being offered at Office Depot, it came with 512 MB ram, and had a Video card...

    My Laptop with Vista SUCKS!!!!

I've got to ask, what are the hardware specs that you are trying this on? I have a laptop with a T9300 CPU, 4 GB RAM and an nVidia 8600M GS, and Vista was no slower than XP. I am running Win 7 on it right now, and it is about the same. As far as memory hog goes, how are you coming up with...

Will Windows 7 just be a stripped down, final version of Vista?

Unfortunately, the recovery disks are often images of the initial pre-install, so if you "recover" you just end up with the original pre-install and all of the crap along with it. The embedded nVidias arent that bad a GPU, I think they are 8600 or 9600 class, so the Win 7 RC should run that...

Will Windows 7 just be a stripped down, final version of Vista?

Yes, but Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2 are totally different operating systems. Server 2008 R2 is Windows 7, just like Server 2008 was Vista. Server 2008 cooked longer than Vista, so it came out with Vista SP1 and they unified it there. This is different from Server 2003 and Server 2003 R2...
