    Electric BIAB

I know we are all DIY type people, but I was starting to build a three keg system and as I started figuring out all the costs on a stand, pumps, false bottoms, valves, etc, etc. I figured my costs around 3k by the time I got done. If you want automation with burners and pumps etc., you are...

Cooling wine closet with a chest freezer?

I have read about that. I believe the unit is over $300 for the controller, plus a small air conditioning unit we are at about $500. Which is much cheaper than a specialty wine unit. I also don't believe I can put an air conditioning unit in a inside room, so there is that.

Cooling wine closet with a chest freezer?

Just had another idea. We are thinking of building an air conditioning unit. The thought is to put a coil of copper pipe in the keezer that would be fed to the top of the wine closet where another copper coil would be. Circulating water with a small pump. A small fan blowing on the coil...

Cooling wine closet with a chest freezer?

The 1" will be for beer lines only. A 4 inch duct for cooling the room.

Cooling wine closet with a chest freezer?

Well, you guys are probably right. The room has normal 4 inches of insulation all the way around with exception of the door. In addition we tacked a layer of Styrofoam board on all walls and ceiling. The temperature of the house is always set at 72 degrees. I am only looking to decrease this...

Cooling wine closet with a chest freezer?

I brew beer and have a three tap kegerator! I am currently building a wine closet and putting the three taps into it. My plan is to put a 7 cubic foot chest freezer behind the back wall for my kegs. My hope is to duct the freezer to the closet and with a small inline fan to cool the closet...

    Cold crashing process?

I need to correct this post as the above process did not work. It turns out it is 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. So basically one packet per 5 gallon batch. My last 5 batches have been crystal clear. I now cold crash for 2 to 3 days and then add gelatin and let it sit for the four more days. Comes...

Anyone have any lines on CHEAP soda/corny kegs?

I had good luck with the following post on craigslist asking for Soda Containers. Wanted Soda Syrup containers - $20 I am looking for soda syrup dispensers like these. If you have any laying around, I would like to buy them. I posted a picture of a keg from Google images. I had a guy call me...

    Cold crashing process?

Well, I have been reading everything I can find about cold crashing and the use of gelatin. I will stick with the 6 week plan above with this alteration. At the start of the fourth week in the primary, I will turn the fermentation chamber down to 36F. After three days I will add the gelatin...

    Cold crashing process?

That is good advice. I think I may just let it stay in the primary for 4 weeks. First three weeks, fermenting at 68 degrees, confirming with hydrometer readings. Crash for a week and rack directly into keg to slowly carbonate for two weeks. That's a 6 week process until beer. I understand...

    Cold crashing process?

Ok, here goes. This is my first homebrew. I have been reading the forum for weeks. This home brewing has taken over my thoughts and wallet for the last five weeks. I started with two batches of beer from kits, Irish Stout and Red Ale. I repurposed a double wide fridge into a fermentation...

    Irish Stout Fermentation

I was thinking the same thing. I have been so ate up with this home brew thing, all I do is research my next steps and next purchases. It is like I have a disorder of sorts. Now to find someone local in the same stage of the disease is a little exciting.

    Irish Stout Fermentation

No kidding, what a coincidence. I live in Ozark, Mo. I started my first homebrew on July 20th. Doing the math, it sounds like the same day as you. I am doing Irish Stout from a kit from the same local brew shop. I am set up to keg also. It will be two weeks of fermenting tomorrow, Sat Aug...
