    Treating Chlorinated Water

This thread has my interest. My brewing buddy and I have our first five batches under our belt, the first a kit and then four PM's. We're not doing full boils, basically using DeathBrewer's stove-top method, and adding tap water to the carboy to get our 5gal. All of our beers have a...

    so am I an Ahole?

If you pull the plug now, you'll regret it, and be second-guessing yourself for a long time. I like to ask people who are engaged, why? 99% will say, "Because I want a wife," or "Because I want a husband." The truth is a guy should want to get married to become a husband, and a gal should...

Drinking beer out of a clay cup.

I'd guess the clay cups were glazed, weren't they? That's the only pottery I've ever seen or would consider for drinking purposes, so the only difference (guessing) would be the different thermal characteristics of clay vs. glass vs. metal.

Any free internet radio stations you like?

I do the free Pandora, and never had any limitations on how much I can listen. They did start doing some ad spots between songs. Last.fm isn't bad either. Their toolbar makes it easier to use. But the audio seems to be taken from poor recordings, at least on the Classical music, so I went...

hook & ladder brewing co. & Southern Tier brewing

H&L's Ember Amber is good beer; it's their blend of their Golden Ale and Backdraft brown. Still not as good as the stuff we brew at home tho'.

    screwtop bottles

Check craigslist for bottles. Or visit some bars that specialize in import beers. I found a tavern owner that was more than happy to save and sell some bottles, and wound up w/ almost 200 bottles for $20- lots of 1/3 liter and 1/2 liters too.

Anyone here really versed on dyslexia?

You've heard of the dyslexic agnostic insomniac? He laid awake at night, wondering if there really was a dog. Sorry. How old are you? I have very slight dyslexia and notice it getting somewhat worse w/ age. I'm 55, and can notice a difference from, say five years ago. I think stress...

    How Old Are You People?

I like Chi Chi Rodriguez' line; when people asked his age he'd tell them, "Plenty-nine." I'm closing in on my 55th trip around the sun.

Inconsistent Carbonation From Bottle To Bottle

This is all great info! I do enjoy a nice head on my beer, but don't care all that much as long as it's not flat. Jeffo will have to chime in on the grains we used. We've been doing partial mashes lately, but I can't remember what our recipe was. For the most part of the Porter's bottle...

Inconsistent Carbonation From Bottle To Bottle

Jeffo and I brew together, and I'm sure he's asking about a Porter we bottled April 17th. I had one last night too, and it had almost zero head. But the odd thing is that it wasn't all that flat, which made me wonder if carbonation is directly related to the amount of head on a beer. The...
