    Wanted: Brew Equipment In Virginia.

If it can fit in the backseat or trunk of a '98 cavalier, I'm probably interested. If you're close to Roanoke, that's even better. Hit me up via PM.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Hey guys - Getting ready to fire up a couple 5 gallon batches, but I have a question. I know the original recipe calls for apple cider/juice with no preservatives, but the store I work at just placed 1/2 gallons of honeycrisp and fuji apple cider on sale for 99 cent, but the label says it...

    3 months in secondary!!

I'm guessing there are various factors here, so take my example with a grain of salt, but I had a red ale that sat in a secondary for 8+ months and carbonated up just fine when I finally bottled it.

Two batches that have been sitting in a fermenter for 8 months.

Was sitting in the closet of an centrally air-conditioned apartment. I believe I had the thermostat set at around 70 at the time.

    Your best equipment find?

About two weeks ago, I found an almost full "Basic Starter Kit" at a Goodwill store for $6 bucks. Only thing it's missing is the Ale Pail with the spigot, but it came with an extra hydrometer, sterilizing solution, and digital thermometer, so I can live with a missing bucket. Quick six bucks...

Two batches that have been sitting in a fermenter for 8 months.

Man, you guys are quick. Just pulled a sample from both. The porter is likely going to be marked up as an experimental loss. Has a really weird and STRONG flavor.. bananas and fingernail polish remover. The red ale, however, tastes pretty delicious. Last time I tasted this one, it was...

Two batches that have been sitting in a fermenter for 8 months.

As the title says, I have two batches of brew, one a classic red ale and the other an apple porter experiment, that have been sitting in their fermenters for about 8 months now. The red ale is in a glass carboy and developed a light dusting of white 'mold' on the top... this was due to my...

    Brewery names--what's your story?

As soon as I move out of a closet, I'm going for Cattywampus Brewing Co. I've been calling my 8 month old the Cattywampus (I know it's not a noun!) since she was born and it was one of the first things that popped into my head when I was trying to think up a name.
