My First ever brew was all grain ,
A Hefe, lots of things went wrong :)
the grain bill came improperly crushed
Conversion took forever
I lost control of the temp.
The runoff stuck.
I had no clue really what was going on during the sparge so i managed to make it very grainey i wound up...
Anyone here used those 5 gal plastic water bottles found at walmart as primary's? I knew them as Alhambra Bottles back in the day.
Like 6 dollars a pop at walmart.
I have done about 6 batches so far in them,
I also have 3 @ 1/2 bbl kegs as fermenters
I see no appreciable difference in taste...
Hmmm , I just taste the runoff, as soon as i don't like it (not sweet, getting grainy,becoming acidic) i cut it off.
Assuming i have met my volume i would rather add pure water than tannins.

I was bitten by the Brewyyomyces bug in a brew pub,
The Brewers there were Kind enuff to Allow me to watch a sunday brew
7,Bbls(Honey Wheat) I learned 2 things that day
1) the timer forgives you
2)the thermometer does not
After this i watched 2 more batches...
